Sheep Farming: Letting The Sheep Out To Play!

Today at Ewetopia Farms, despite being a brutally cold day again, we decided to let the lambs out to play. They had a fantastic time running through the barnyard and pastures, and the cold didn't bother them at all. Later in the day, we do some slow-motion footage of trimming sheep hooves. To end the day, we rearrange the last barn by making a new creep area for the lambs.

Sheep and sheep farming is our passion and we hope that the love we have for what we do is obvious to you the viewers. Our operation is a large scale, registered Suffolk and Poll Dorset sheep farm combining the best of pasture and confinement to manage the flock for maximum comfort, minimal stress, and producing a consistent, very high quality product. Our focus is on providing breeding stock for sale to other sheep producers. All our sheep are treated with the utmost compassion which I think will become evident as you join us on our daily rounds on our working sheep farm in eastern Ontario, Canada.

I hope you enjoy this video. If you would like to follow along with us and experience life on a real live sheep farm on a daily basis, please subscribe so that you don't miss a single episode!

Thank you for taking the time to watch! We love to hear from you so be sure to leave a comment as well.

Thank you!

Come on Arnie, give Lynna break and do the dishes!! Every woman needs a break from dishes at least once or twice a week. Even my dad did the dishes after l moved out of the house. The lambs look like they were having lots of fun outdoors today. Although the weather looked nice and sunny we know 1 degree is way to cold to sit outside in that dang wind!!❣🌴

Good morning Arnie and Lynn. Glad you are feeling better. Hopefully you got some more rest today. What a fun day today. The lambs are so cute out exploring. Nothing like them running and those cotton tails bouncing up and down. I thought it was sweet that a couple of mamas were out with the kids. They were enjoying feeling like a kid. Goes to show the lamb never really leaves the adult. They have shown that when they run and hop with the lambies. Absolutely love it. When Arnie was building that creep area. Some of the mamas were trying to stay because they know what yummies were going in there. Arnie is a softy for the lambs too. And he was happy with the birthday wishes. You two get sone rest. Big hugs and thank you for a great video. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I laughed with the lamb Arnie took up. His bello was like a face... 2 eyes, a nose, and a beard... and a mouth... 😂❤😂😂😂

The creep feed has worked its magic again. The lambs have markedly thickened in the chest/brisket area and their muscles are growing fast.
Last years experiment with greater outdoor time led to much more mature lambs and a super weaning process. they are so curious and independent.
Even after decades with sheep I am still amazed at their understanding of place and space and knowledge of what the other lambs will do to avoid a bingle or pile up she running and playing.

Arnie does the hard labor. I worry about his back.
Get a dishwasher Lynn. Life changing and more sanitary. Happy belated birthday Arnie. You are about to catch up with me.
Arnie is the brawn and Lynn is the brain. 😊

It's great to see the lambs out enjoying the fresh air and sunshine!! They have grown so fast; it's hard to believe that weaning time is getting close. Thanks for a great video guys and stay safe!

Did I get a mention in this video?!?!? I think so, and if so, MY LIFE IS COMPLETE! No, seriously... It's not just that Luther is tall. He's also incredibly well-balanced, correct, has excellent breed type, etc. Maybe the word is stylish. I like stylish. But of course the definition of "stylish" will vary from one sheep person to another. There's nothing wrong with a little altitude in a sheep as long as you have the capacity to go with it. You have no shortage of capacity in your sheep, and Luther has a deceptive amount of capacity--in spite of his setback.

So glad you're feeling a little better, Lynn. And for the record, I'm pretty sure I acknowledged Arnie's birthday! And tell him that, if I grew corn, it would be better than his. 😇😇😇

Lynn, such a wonderful video. Thanks for everything.

My Spring break was so eventful. It started on Day 1 with my dad planning to evict 5 people from his house. And a snow storm. And while I can't remember the order of events, some of the highlights of my monumental spring vacation:

*Dad finished moving out almost all of his furniture, with plans to evict everyone.

*Dad decided not to move out, and not to kick folks out, and he began moving everything back in.

*I got some blood workup, and the doctors were worried about my gallbladder. Which makes the third time I've had a medical test come back with non-sensical results. Once I was told that my uterus looked healthy (it had been removed) and that my ovaries had been removed (they were still there). Another time I was told that my tailbone was normal in appearance (it was removed) and now they've diagnosed my gallbladder is having problems (but I don't have my gallbladder). But the good news that only phantom organs are having problems, so it must be good.

*Neice and Nephew-in-law (?) both got Covid, Brother in law got a common cold that landed him in the hospital

*Hubby and I drove down to see my doc in california, but were thwarted 5 miles from our 90-miles-away-destination by a blizzard.

* My wether decided he was going to kill me, so we've decided to add some Mutton to our diet. (My blood workup also said I wasn't getting enough protein)

*I was turned down for a once-in-a-lifetime public service student loan forgiveness expansion (due to Covid) where they were forgiving not only the normal government loans, but also the ones that were most profitable to private businesses who took on all the profit and none of the risks of government subsidized loans. But when I called them to find out why, they said that there was a smudge on the paperwork, and it caused an error code that generated the results. So I might still get the rest of my student loans paid off. I've been a public school teacher since the year 2001.

*today I get my brand new glasses.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of things, but I'm leaving my spring break much happier than I began it, and so even though there were a few traumatic bits in the mix, I'm glad that I can say that.

Thanks again Lynn and Arnie (and if I didn't say it, I certainly thought Happy Birthday in his direction).

Today is the one-year anniversary of one of my ewes lambing. The other two mature ewes lambed later in April, and the four ewe lambs (Hoggett if they are a yearling? Is that a term used on this side of the "pond"?) might or might not be pregnant.

Happy belated birthday Earnie. You guys make me laugh. My marriage is just the same. Hard sometimes to live together but no way can we live without each other. I do hope you feel better soon Lynn. Thanks again for all your wonderful videos I appreciate the time you must spend doing them. The shearing day was great to watch but I was wishing I could pop over and lend a hand. Australia is a bit far away. I loved seeing your wedding video. What a beauty you are. And Earnie you so handsome. But my pleasure is seeing all those lovely lambs and sheep and the beautiful way you interact with them all. Don’t work too hard now take care and god bless
