Integral Shamanism vs. the Metacrisis with Layman Pascal

Layman Pascal presents a colorful exploration of the ways that integral consciousness & shamanism converge to face humanity's accelerating and overlapping crises.
Our emerging world conditions require that developmental approaches, including integral theory, be infused with generalized qualities of the shamanic dimension of praxis -- ecology, embodiment, altered states, sacred community, nonhuman intelligences, imaginal skill, inter-tribal relations, subconscious intelligence, deep ancestry, etc. However, these qualities must learn to lean into their transrational and planetary forms rather than regress into prerational and nonadaptive modes.
This session will explore themes and exercises that illuminate aspects of the archaic revival from a second-tier worldview and consider how they might be necessary as we enter more deeply into the age of the metacrisis.

BIO
Layman Pascal grew up among the mist-shrouded islands of the Pacific Northwest before attending the University of Victoria and becoming a meditation and yoga teacher in Japan, Norway, Canada and the Caribbean. He is the author of numerous books and articles under various names and recently served as editor for the anthology Dispatches from a Time Between Worlds for Perspectiva Press. His philosophical work focuses on Meta-progressive politics, Planetary Shamanism, the Metaphysics of Adjacency, nihilism in developmental contexts, Sacred Naturalness, analytic nonduality, and the Integration-Surplus model of religion. Layman founded the Ontario Depth Adaptation project, curates the Emerge website and operates as co-chair of the Foundation for Integral Religion and Spirituality.

Through his work hosting the Integral Stage podcast -- with its numerous specialized series on systemic transformation, alchemical sexuality, new education, spiritual transmission, depth psychology, and other topics -- he operates as a liaison between the various Liminal Web web subcultures such as metamodernism, integral, intellectual deep web, game B, Bildung, dark renaissance, etc. He also appears as a frequent guest and collaborator in other community venues such as Voices with Vervaeke, the Stoa, UTOK, the Meta-Ideological Podcast, Cadell Last’s Philosophy Portal, etc. He is currently providing online courses through the Parallax Academy and leading the seasonal Metamodern Spirituality retreats in Vermont.
He lives with his family on the north shore of the world’s largest lake

... thank you for the other ways of teasing out the angle of "the doing things for the sake of doing things better". Really appreciate the video share.

I think we oughta put Layman's talk in a time capsule and take it out in 10-15 years, see how this nearly invisible wriggling amphibious sea monster of a metacrisis has evolved.
