My grandfather was a Crew Chief in 316th Troop Carrier Group, 3 7th Squadron. He never told us about the night of Normandy invasion. Thank you Officer Rice for telling the story. Thank you for your service.

Wow parachuting through bullets and other projectiles in the hope that you can make it to the ground to be surrounded by enemies!  People should think of these events when they vote on non-veteran friendly policies and laws.  I know I will think of this and other clips from Vietnam next time I see a veteran in need of a meal or some help or even a beer!

The most important thing after putting troops on the ground is supplies an ordinance and keeping the lifeline going no matter what

My grandfather was a radio operator with the 316th Troop Carrier Group, I still have his old photo album and there's pictures of him and the crew smiling through holes in the plane.

Man, I am so glad I didn't grow up then, and so appreciative to those who did and fought to keep me free.

I had the privilege to jump out of a C-47 Navy variant built in Long Beach CA in 1942 three times, every year for my reunion jump in Lancaster TX with the Commemorative Air Force. My unit was A co. Moatengators 1/508th INF (ABN) Red Devils from Ft. Kobbe Panama.

Bullshit - A LOT of paratroopers didn't make it - were either killed in their planes, shot while parachuting and some pilots, so scared of the heavy flak and machine gun fire, they dropped too low and whole jump crews hit the ground before their chutes had the chance to open. Many others were dropped 30 miles away from their targets.

I'm sure most of these vets are rocking in their graves at how pathetic the society they fought to protect has become
