That really is one of the best things about India is how they treat animals, something their neighbours like China could learn a lot from.

Nature is truly so beautiful and relaxing. The closest thing I had got to large carps were the koi carps I used to raise in the past. The koi pond was my late father's birthday gift for me. Gentle but ravenous eaters. I miss the sound they make in the water.

this area is known as Garur baijnath this area is a vast valley with one of the most fertile land in foothills of himalayas . one of the oldest towns of uttrakhand state(established approximately in 800 ce). baijnath was also known as kartikeyapura in ancient times . this town was capital of katyuri kings back in 10th century. this town is famous for its beautiful temple complexes from 10th century and and an artificial lake which is specially made for conserving these golden mahaseers, algricultural irrigation in the valley... btw back in 2014 this area got a heavy snowfall which is very rare in himalayas at a height of approx 1100 mtrs. these golden mahaseer went extinct mysteriously after snowfall. (in approx 2 weeks only) then they have been re cultivated in this river. after that their hunting is banned. people can only feed them.

Tor putitora, the Putitor mahseer, Himalayan mahseer, or golden mahseer, is an endangered species of cyprinid fish that is found in rapid streams, riverine pools, and lakes in the Himalayan region. Its native range is within the basins of the Indus, Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers.

BBC are you keeping your facts straight? "The Siamese giant carp is the largest species of carp in the world. These migratory fish are found only in the Mae Klong, Mekong and Chao Phraya river basins. They are a desirable food fish, which has caused a serious decline in their numbers"

I watched this full documentary named 'BBC Ganges' more than 10 years ago. Released in 3 parts, this is still one of the best documentaries for me!

British Broadcasting Clickbait

The biggest carp ever caught by a British angler is a 105lbs 14oz mirror specimen by Ian Burton at the same lake in 2019. The official carp record is currently The Parrot at 68lb 1oz, caught by Dean Fletcher in January 2016 from Berkshire's Wasing Estate.

But BBC said this Ganges river is full of carps weighing average 50kg or 100pounds!?

Those were pretty average carp… in a water hole in Thousand Trails CA, there was this massive carp that was mistaken as a shark that lived there for years.
