As China's Communist Party marks 100 years since its founding, President Xi Jinping has urged Chinese officials to create a credible, lovable and respectable image for the country. Could this mark a possible shift in China’s approach in its relations with key powers around the world? And can it win more friends?

Also, how will issues like Xinjiang, Hong Kong, and the origins of COVID-19 affect China's attempts to cultivate a more lovable image? Join China correspondent Olivia Siong and her guests in Beijing as they discuss this and more on our first talkshow edition of CNA Correspondent.

China will be more loveable. And friendly. And get on well with the world. Once the world accepts Chinese policies with silent

Something tells me that latter part may be the sticking point.

I certainly disagree with these two officers/researchers' view in assuming that the competition is between China and the western world especially the USA. If China looks nearby east (Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan) and south (e.g. Singapore), more can be learned. These countries are located in the eastern world yet enjoy better freedom and prosperity. What China is enjoying today is a result of relatively long stability and the opening of its economy initiated by its leader Deng. Deng adopted the approach that China must be closer with other successful democratic countries and allow their investors to help build China. Of course, the Chinese themselves must work to improve their living condition. For me, Deng who had taken the right path (approaching the economic laissez-faire) is someone who deserves praise. Today, we are suffering an economic recession as a result of this pandemic and the impact of the CCP's application of its old political ideology. I notice that some successful democratic countries begin to distance themselves from China (something like to decouple). This lack of trust is not good for China and the rest of the world. Being researchers, in my humble opinion, they should think out of the box. Thank you CNA Insider.

Ans: China's rise is a thread for western monopoly but it's good for developing and under developed nations.

can't agree more with Andy Mok. Guess he would never be given a chance in any western mainstream media. I gave a like to CNA for this one.

for a hammer, everything else looks like a nail. different problems requires different solution. heck even the same problem can be solved differently yet yields the same results.

In 400 single shootings a day, 150 people were killed. In addition, more than 100 people were trapped when the building collapsed, but the building on the other side was blown up! ? What country is this! ? ?

Wonder whether CNA can invite speakers with different views, some from Japan and Vietnam maybe, to see whether it is merely a problem between China and West, or China and rest.
