We get daily calls from customers asking if they really need to break in their subwoofers, why they need to do this, and how to do it. Here at DD Audio we fully embrace the practice of breaking in subwoofers before you hit the bass demo circuit with your freshly installed system.

You should swap those rings in your ears with some 1 inch drivers XD

very good explanation! Now if the factory could only break them in before they package and ship them that would be great.

Well, I'm from the old school way of break-in. Setup my amplifier spec to final load ( so you don't have to re-tone it later ) play 4 to 5 different tracks " song's " with different bass hits for about the first two weeks at about 10 to 15 percent volume. Each time i lower the volume for cooling off period. Start to increase the volume after two weeks until i reach about 50% volume. Once i hit that level, I'll just turn it down for a song or two before turning off vehicle. Never had any issues 😎👍🏾

I Use the ghost tone frequency track. It’s a continuous 12hrs of 18.98hz. During the free air it sounds like a helicopter chopping during a landing

Is there any danger of coil heat damage by playing a continuous tone for hours on end? Or is the subwoofer designed to play indefinitely so long as the power is at or below its rms? And lastly is there a away to determine the subwoofers coil thermal limit? Thanks for your reply. -Cheers mate.

Had my 3512 esp moving over 2 inches right off the bat for a very low bass setup. After 1-1.5 months it stopped noticeably breaking in; either by hand or by ear

Where I live especially my environment I don't have the luxury of breaking in my subs. I'll just to naturally have it break in by just paying music. Sub is still stiff like new. Had it for 2yrs already. Lol. But it sounds better each time I play tracks with bass notes on my drive to work. Sundown stated dont need to break in.

Oh I broke in my subwoofer alright. I hammered it from the first test. Now if I give it some the motor makes some banging noises like The boot door rattling. But it’s the actual sub. If I back off the bass it’s ok again.

As he proceeds to give a "bangin' demo " on my newly installed subs🤣🤣
