As a relatively new hotshot, I understand the urge to book something quick to keep moving and eliminate down time. But I have found that for me, it is worth waiting a day or even two days for a 3k-5k or even higher load to pop up that will keep you loaded for several days rather than booking a 1200 dollar or less load that will only keep you busy for a day. I do have a dispatcher but I have told him that if it doesn't pay over 3k, dont even call on it unless it is a very very good rate per mile or if it gets me closer to a better load. Also, if you are having trouble finding loads close, my rule of thumb is I will drive around 300 miles of deadhead, or one tank of fuel for a good load. Also, if you can find a load that doesn't load till the next day, then you can slow poke on your deadhead at like 60mph so you will use less fuel on the deadhead. This is just what I have learned from the last several months of trying to bump up my profit. Looks like you are already learning a lot of this, best of luck to you. Hopefully some of this advice will be helpful.

I am a dispatcher. I am finding a truck. I can find you loads $2 per mile. And on average the driver will be able to make more than $7000 a week.

Bro, its about 16$ for permit with width up to 15ft. Just find someone on call with pilot car and negotiate pricebwith dispatch to cover pilot cost.

Quick tip stop saying you are looking on the load board just say I see you have a load going from here to there then say I can run it for this

Most brokers don’t want the small talk. Make the call and get to the point. After you’ve built a relationship with the broker you can make conversation with them. If I’m calling a new broker I’m short and to the point and I know the rate I’m willing to take it for before I make the call. Quick, simple and to the point.

You learn by doing. Make tons of calls and learn from every call.

You’re inspirational brother literally all I’m focused on (step by step) is driving semis at my day job, side hustles, crypto investing in the bear market (fire sale) and taking my profits from my investments, saved income from my day job, and side hustle money into my business (s&r freight) I have the plan in motion just working on my goal day by day, I just discovered you recently and I subbed to your channel tonight, as human beings all striving for one goal (to make it) I find it very important to lift eachother up. I wish you nothing but the best of luck man real talk!

Also order permits when you get the load don’t pass up an OD load

Get you a dispatcher to help you out. So you can keep moving

I'm not really too keyed into this industry but this looks like you would seriously benefit from a virtual assistant calling these dispatchers to help you line up your loads and what not for the max efficiency. Not sure if people do this or not but just an idea
