Hey Booktube, time for my May Wrap Up! Here are the reviews and my recommendations on all the books I've read this month! Pretty hectic month since I was doing my "one week, one shelf" challenge, doing reading vlogs and all!

_____ To support my channel & the kittens _____

_____ MEET THE KITTIES _____
Charlie: All black with no thumbs. He thinks he's spiderman and climbs in the window screens. His favorite snack is wtv book I'm currently reading.
Clawdia: Black and white with a beauty mark. She has thumbs... wouldn't surprise me if she stole them. She's pure chaos but she purrs and cuddles me so it's fine.
Chunky: Black with a white patch on his chest. Has thumbs. Needy, crusty, whiny baby... can't live without him.

Whenever I see that you have posted a video, I feel really excited! Although our tastes in literature are a bit different, I really enjoy your videos! I hope you feel well and continue to bring joy into our lives!

I am so glad you also struggled with “The Dispossessed.” It took me a long time to get through that one. I read before bed and honestly, this is a perfect book to read when you run out of melatonin gummies. 😴 💤

I also don’t think Ursula K LeGuins novels work super well for me but I would still recommend the short story “the ones who walk away from omelas” it’s only like 15 pages and it has a more conversational tone that really worked for me

Agree with your sentiments towards Ursula K LeGuin. I think you have to be in a certain mood to enjoy her works. Couldn't push through her high fantasy stuff, though I liked a couple installments. Was in the right mood for The Left Hand of Darkness when I read it and was blown away, but the other Hainish Cycle books are like pulling teeth, even if they're short

I don't read a lot of romances but I finished reading Just For The Summer last night and loved it! Not sure if I happened to be in the mood or what but it was sooo good in my opinion.

I have actually read three Freida McFaddeen books this month (not the housemaid though) and they were all very mid for me, but you are right they are very readable. That is why I read so many of them. Never Lie Is by the way okay-ish.

Glad to hear your thoughts on I Keep My Exoskeletons to Myself. I was intrigued by the title and concept of this one and I was considering buying it. But I won't bother now 😂☺

Hey Emily! Loved your May Wrap Up! 📚 Your "one week, one shelf" challenge sounds super fun and a bit intense – hats off to you for pulling it off! Your reviews and recommendations are always so insightful and help me discover new reads.

And those kitties! Charlie, Clawdia, and Chunky sound like quite the trio. 🐾
Btw I'm 8 years old and a huge book lover! I just read Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and reviewed it in my new video. Would love to hear your thoughts!

I don't know that you will like the second Abby Jimenez book as much, as I think it includes a trope you're historically not so fond of.. I won't spoil it but I got so frustrated with it because of that trope myself! I hope I'm wrong and you do enjoy it, but I will be anxiously awaiting your review 😊

I had a great month! Even though quality-wise it was mid, I did get through 15 books!
The Romance Recipe by Ruby Barrett was 3☆ but does have a french Canadian character.
The top 3 ware Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, Dragon Rider by Taran Matharu, The Crypt by Scott Sigler.
Sunbringer by Hanna Kaner, Circe by Madeline Miller, The Red Tent by Anita Diamant and Animal by Lisa Taddeo were all good but I didn't love them.

Funny Story is the best book I read or listened to in May.

Came home from work to an Emily Fox wrap up?! Yes please! So excited to hear your thoughts on Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez!
Also, I loved The Deep. Have you listened to the song that inspired the book?

My favorite book of May was The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett

I also stopped halfway through The Dispossessed. But I hope to go back to LeGuins books sometime, because I do get the hype. But I do think it's a matter of how old her work is, what publishers wanted at that time, etc.. we just have so many other (faster reads) options now if we get bored. But I do think she was brilliant.

Can't wait to read Abby Jimenez. You sounded so happy when you read the first book 😀🤩Series back to back can sometimes be to much like you said 😅😅I just finished An ember in the ashes series and when I got to the last book I was just over all war stuff going on....
