If you want to divide (÷) 4 by 2 you can ignore the dots and just subtract to get 2

1/x=x^-1 the derivative of x^-1 using power rule would be -1x^(-1-1) or -x^-2, and going back to the original form would be -1/(x^2), to not uses quotient rule

You can find the derivative of x/2 by cancelling out the 'd' and the 'x'
d/dx (x/2) =
1/2
