DJI Mavic Mini Motor Caps - Good or Bad Idea?

preview_player
Показать описание
In this video, we are taking a look at some motor caps for the DJI Mavic Mini and run some tests to see if they are good or bad for your drone. The Mavic Mini has motors that are fully open at the top making them susceptible to dust and debris, adding a motor cap on top, in theory, is a good idea, but can they introduce unwanted side effects?

I put same caps on my Anafi about a year ago. Red ones. Heat has never been a problem, even on hot summer days. I felt the motors many times after flying. No heat at all. A Fimi x8 I have does get pretty warm. Mavic Pro 2, no heat either. Heat from wife for buying—quite a bit.

Had to laugh! That elf on the tree is keeping a real close eye on that mini. Does not want to get his head chopped off!

Page 20 of the manual: “DO NOT block any of the ventilation holes on the motors or the body of the aircraft.”

Based on that, more than likely the warranty is void and DJI care refresh may be impacted also.

Thank you for taking the time to pass on your findings, you answered every question we were all concerned about i.e weight, overheating etc. Good job. Regards. Richard.Yorkshire.England.

Thanks for the video! I have a set of red ones that are coming in on the slow boat from China any day now. The motor temperature was my biggest concern but thanks to your video you have dispelled that concern. I'm not so worried about weight.

Thank you for bringing the attention of rotor blade placement especially for newbies 👍

Hi mate, good video thank you. I quite like the idea of these caps, what I would recommend though is replacing the Loctite on the screws when doing this to guarantee the prop screws don’t work loose. Happy Christmas 👍

Good review. I have a Mini 2 and it's weight is actually 237 grams. The caps are 1.6 grams each so adding them does not compromise the weight and living in a dusty/sand environment in the UAE really requires these. Thanks immensely for your thermal input. 👍🏻

These caps could be a good solution to keep dust and sand grains away from moving parts of the motor. I had recently motor blocking caused by a grain of sand which was stuck between the rotor and the stator. I had luck that the motor was completely blocked after flying and not in the air.

Those are really nice! I will have to pick up the red ones! Nice review and you got another subscriber here! Oh, the link you posted for the motor covers on amazon USA they said currently unavailable. :( I found some more doing a quick search. Thanks for the review and have a Happy New Year!!

Oh man talk about an underrated channel. I just stumbled across your page. I just got mine in the mail just yesterday (the same covers), and I also shared your original concern.

As a fellow DJI Mini pilot... & therefore one of the brotherhood of the air, obviously-😁-I shared your concern of overheat-but that was not the first thought that had struck me… The first one and most immediate, I put them on the scale, they weigh several grams (I was not where at this point that I should probably think about the engines cooling system as the factory builds it; and how can I not impede that systems efficienies; however, today I decided to first add the landing gear that folds up, which we did and worked great lifted like it was nothing. Then added carbon fiber wings... much heavier about double the weight plus like .02 or but, much more rigid, much much much stronger. Blades feel like glass, is how I would describe it. If glass were very very very very very hard.. but it could flex JUST A LITTLE BIT...but when you do, you can really bear down on trying to snap one and me nor my girl could get it. Amazing piece of technology... would recommend. I’ve only got a few minutes flight hours on these props but can keep updated if you reply.
Appreciate your time and this was an amazingly well planned, written, executed-produced and recorded video, you have amazing quality videos. Love your presentation style and direct delivery. Keep it up, some of that hair still have an appreciation for the proper English language...colloquially speaking, vs literal vs 1st, 2nd and 3rd-person views.

Love the channel and the MINI content my dude.
You earned the shit out of the sub on this one man I blown away. Sorry
