I have a question: *but does high CTR only matter in the first stage of publishing?*
Because I've seen that often in the long run the CTR then improves, almost as if the algorithm found an audience more similar to the content, but ended up proposing it less.
Maybe you start with a CTR of 2% and then after 2 years you see that it is 9.6%

I generally go out and shoot my video with some idea of what I want to show, then sit down and edit it. Once editing is complete I'll sit back and work out my thumbnail and title. So far my best video has 6.5k views and 8.3% CTR. My CTR did hit 40% at one stage and that was on the 31st March this year. The video is averages 30 views per day

It's a bit scary starting a new channel to get more niche specific. But I know this is what's holding me back. I have been on YouTube since 2012 I have approx 169 video's and almost 600 subscribers. It's a big step to start that new channel and leave Medley Unlimited by the wayside😢
