Here is a preamp tube shootout. High gain metal riffs using a Randall T2. The tubes I used were:-
TAD 7025HG, Sovtek 12AX7, Mesa 12ax7-A, Electro Harmonix 12AX7.

Dean angel of deth straight into the Randall T2 (no tubescreamer) in boost mode. The cab was miced with an SM57, I just wish I could've got the volume up a bit more!

thanks for your reply mate. I was beginning to worry I purchased a low-end amp that would die on me any minute now, since i had been hearing that from so many places. Im glad thats not the case cause I love how this amp sounds. Its awesome! And heck yeah, im getting myself a Diavlo by the end of the year \m/

@tapeboi321 hey mate I meant to reply. I've had the amp for years, only problem I've had was my fault, I blew the midi chip by plugging the footswitch in while the amp was on. I've heard of problens with the amp but never really experienced any. I'd wait for the diavlo and thrasher though!

i had a digitech / hafler g150 mosfet poweramp with a tech21 gt2 clone preamp.
it was much better so i went back to them but now both are sold and got an amptweaker tightmetal pedal and a friend of mine lent me a tech21 powerengine.

O yeah, the amp really smoothed out, lost its abrasive tone after changing preamp tubes.I changed stock Engl tubes to Electroharmonix ones in my Engl e530 preamp, and the tone and dynamics have changed dramatically for better.

i recently discovered what i was missing when i added a gain boost. the distortion on this amp is killer!

Other guitarist in my band got one but he has trouble cutting in the mix with my Peavey rigs. Had to loan him my G Major to get rid of noise (even though he uses an ns2) and to give him a mid bump (750hz) on the active EQ just so he could cut thru. Must be dark sounding or old tubes.

It can be pretty dark sounding especially with the sweep control before or even around noon. You should be able to get the mid hump around 750 using the sweep and mids. The peaveys are known for being louder and cutting better than everything XD You aren't helping him! Another option you have is to use a tube screamer for that mid hump. Also cab choice makes a big difference. The ohms the cab is at definitely affects the sounds of these amps!

Good luck balancing tones!

By the looks on some sites the users that got one shipped didn't bother to check that the tubes didn't shift during shipment which they did, thus the connection issues and the amp "dying in on them". Just a few noobs that didn't know how to operate tube amps.

Hey dude. Is the 12at7 the one that’s right beside the heat sinks/closest to the fan?

Hey brother. Do you know what the differences of the T2 and the T2(Gus G ) model were? Also do you know what the T2's went for new? I just picked one up
(not GusG model) for $500 CAN, so decent.

How long have you had that T2? I just got one and now I'm worried cause I've been reading all over the place that it has broken down on some people and its had other reliability problems. Have you had any issues with yours?

i liked the youtube videos of this amp but when i got the real thing it was a big disappointment. sounded cold, lifeless and thin.
i wanted to love it but sold it after two gigs.

hi, what fat drum-vsti are you using here?

ThomasSchulteEbbert

Really? Thin is the last word I'd use to describe it, maybe you had a faulty one, the low end and low mids on this thing can get really overbearing quite easily

one of the worst amps i've ever played on...
