What a neat tool brought back to life. Top job young man and very therapeutic to watch. Thank you!!

Truly satisfying to watch. A smear of oil to keep the moisture away from the metal and keep the blade retracted to protect it. Glad to see you using the full width of the stone to keep it flat. I use a wide piece of rough leather like the old barber shops used to have to keep the edge on the blade. Test the blade by gently pushing it on your finger nail at an angle. if it slips its sharpening time. I look forward to your next restoration project. I store mine in a oiled cloth but never inside a sealed plastic bag as the moisture trapped in the bag can make the metal sweat and corrode. Nice one Ash.

Why are these things so satisfying to watch? Fantastic job Ash! Thought you were gonna get carried away and make something out of that piece of wood though. Since you've made a start on it, let us know what you ended up with. x 😄

I’ve said it before (about your hand axe at AmBolEast, on your other channel) old tools never die, they just need someone to love and appreciate them. Thanks for taking the time to save this spokeshave, and for allowing us to join you whilst you do it.

I’d love to see you make a vibrating parts tumbler and see which you prefer for the cleaning of parts...

Is there a particular kind of wire wheel you use? Seems to give fast, quality results!
