Easy Atlatl Darts

Built some throwing darts this week (atlatl darts without the atlatl). They make for great family fun around the yard.

I found a patch of some kind of bamboo in a suburb of Columbus Ohio the other day while helping a buddy move. Week prior I had been watching North02 videos about ancient people. Now I hunt, but tree stand deer hunting has always felt like cheating to me so I didn’t much care for it. I think this year I’m gonna make an attempt at spearing a deer. Use the bamboo I found for dart shafts and maybe forge a point from a large nail so it’s got a stem to go into the bamboo. If a denisovan can take down a mammoth with one then I should be able to take out a white tail

I have been searching to see if bamboo would make a suitable dart. It appears so. And, I just watched a fletching video that showed the feathers were offset. He called it a "drunken fletch". I'm also going to try dimensional lumber. 1/2 by 1/2 or 3/4 by 3/4.

So what if I don't have access to bamboo or river cane ?
