Workflow Demonstration - Komplete Kontrol + Maschine 2.2

Q: Do I need the Komplete Kontrol plugin that comes with Komplete/Komplete Ultimate 9/10?

A: No, all you need is the Maschine 2.2 update and the keyboard.

Q: If I have the Mikro, would a Kontrol keyboard offer the same workflow as the MK1/MK2/Studio?

A: Not completely. The knobs can be used to control modules and plugins in Maschine's FX chains. You can also record automation of FX parameters from the keyboards. They cannot, however, be used for features such as sampling, pattern/scene editing, slicing, navigation, etc.

Q: What do the Kontrol keyboards have to offer for Maschine users over other MIDI keyboards?

A: Things just work so much more easily. Transport controls, browsing from the keyboard, navigating sounds and groups, chords/scales/arps. Yes the keyboards are pricey, but if you value a tightly integrated workflow that is already set up for you, they deserve consideration, I believe.

Q: How do chords/scales/arps work from the keyboard?

A: Very similarly to how the Maschine hardware works with the 2.2 update. The full sequence of notes is recorded, not just the note you play on the keyboard. So, if you're playing chord sets from the keyboard, every note of every chord will be recorded into Maschine's sequencer.

Q: How do the keys feel?

A: Very good. As good as a keyboard can be without being fully weighted, in my opinion.

Q: What's the deal with the touchstrips?

A: They take getting used to, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for me. They can do things conventional pitch/mod wheels cannot do, but I don't see myself using those much. Overall, it's just fine.

Great video, could you make a video of the workflow demonstration of this with the a DAW? With or without Maschine, I already have the keyboard, and looking to get Maschine, but I think having Maschine, Cubase and Reason at the same time could get really messy. A video of how sound goes from the Maschine software to the DAW and the mixer. Getting stuff too complicated, basically, a video of you working with KKK, Maschine's software (Maschine too if you want) and the actual DAW.

You're the man!! Been checking You Tube often for your awesome tutorials and finally another one has arrived! I hadn't bought mine yet. I had one on hold, but because I kept getting conflicting information about the integration. I got my money back. One question though. Can you confirm whether you have access to the same features you presented in this video when using Maschine 2.2 + as a plugin inside of a DAW? Such as being able to record Arps, chords, etc. inside of the Maschine 2.2 vsti grid when using Komplete Kontrol? Everyone made it seem like the Komplete Kontrol browser isn't available, which it is when you used it in this video. Also, are there more scales available other than major and minor like Spanish, Dorian, Pentatonic, Minor Blues, + many more which are available in Maschine 1.8/Ableton Live 9 template in midi mode? Sorry for all the questions. There really isn't any other reliable source to answer these questions. Cause I've asked upon others going videos on the 2 and my questions have been ignored or the answers seem to be confusing as if they don't really know and give you an answer just to brush you off....

Hello Andrew. . I am an Ableton user and picked up the Kontrol 49 during the crossgrade sale essentially giving me Kontrol 49 for free as the price was exactly the same had I purchased Komplete Ultimate. I have PUSH 2 and a few other MIDI controllers. My question is because I own Komplete Ultimate and Kontrol 49, and use PUSH 2 with Ableton, is there any benefit to pickup the Machine Studio Controller because of the integration between Kontrol 49, Komplete Ultimate & Machine Studio. I am a newbie at using DAWs and MIDI and want to make sue I do not waste money buying gear I do not need but at the same time I would hate not to take advantage of a setup that would make Kontrol 49 and Komplete Ultimate more enjoyable and creative when laying down ideas. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi, nice video, right now I have maschine mk2 and an mpk249 slaved. I just found out about the s49, and am wondering if there is any benefit to using the s49 instead of my mpk249. The mpk is brand new and I can trade it in for the s49 and the difference in cost. What do you think? Keep the mpk, or swap for s49?

Hey man I just wanted to say I have come a long way from where i began by watching your videos these past few months since I purchased the mikro then the maschine mk2. As of lately i just started with sampling and i have one question.
Why when I record my sample chops with quantize (play/rec) on it sound off beat but when i record without any quantization the chops sound on point? Do you have any suggestions what that might be (im using the maschine mk2)
