That is how chiropractors work they convince the patients they helped them and there is one study where they had better results than doctors. Also, a lot of natural supplements do contain what they say but are diluted millions of times to avoid any adverse effects (and avoid getting sued). It's also like the collagen pills they sell everywhere now, which are really the same thing as eating anything with protein. I didn't know about the surgery placebo, great video.

An Australian pain relief brand called Nurofen was exposed for selling the same tablet under different names such as backpain, menstral pain and headaches. I've never thought of it but maybe they were using the placebo effect. Every one was pissed because all the boxes where priced differently and they were getting the same product.

I convinced myself that I only get cramps right before my period and right after as a start and stop warning. I used to get terrible cramps every day of my cycle but now it's at the beginning and end like I convinced myself it is. And I'm aware it's placebo :P

Really cool video! I wanna give some constructive criticism, the angle could be better. perhaps place the camera on a higher surface. a pile of books? I don't know
Anyway, I'm off to inspect my daily medications. I have a lot, and they are as colorful as pills can come 😄👍

p.s. thanks for the links in the desc!

Do you think the placebo effect could work another way? Like, if you told people you were poisoning them and gave then fake poison, would their body react negatively? I would love to find out the answer to that, but it doesn't seem like a very friendly experiment to try. Does anyone know?

the jump cuts were so horrible I had to close my eyes in order to enjoy the video. next time don't use jump cuts where you move your whole bodie when making a serious talk video because it makes it harder to listen to.

Nice Video
Camera angle was off-putting...
Try looking into a camera angle of an even height.

So, can you also get side effects from a placebo?  What if you told them that it would turn their skin yellow, would it do it?

Fact 2 is odd, to say the least. If the placebo effect has been known since the 18th century, then it had to be plenty powerful back then. In pre-scientific medicine, most treatments were totally ineffective. If any patient thought an ineffective treatment helped, it was either _post hoc, propter hoc_ or placebo. And indeed, your article suggest a number of possible confounders for this particular observation.

Fact 3 is also poorly supported by its article, which admits the observed effect can be explained by classic conditioning but then seems to ignore what it just said.

I have to ask, are you guys not native English speakers? Your pronunciation at times is very odd, as if you've only ever read certain words, never heard them. (Fact 3 brought this to mind. That's not how any native English speaker would normally pronounce "sedative".)
