How to attach wire lathe to a masonry wall

I’m this video I’m starting a stone veneer wall. So the first step to that is attaching the wire lathe. I explain which way is the right side up on the wire and how I figure that out. Then I show how I start the wire by yourself. After that I put tapcons everywhere in a triangular pattern in order to make the wire as close to the wall as possible. I finish up by finding any loose parts and putting extra screws in those places. Thanks for watching!

Very helpful. I liked the tip on which way to hang the lathe. Gotta go check what I already hung now.

The wire “diamonds” should be turned upwards in order to catch and hold the mortar. Run your hand down the the mesh from top to bottom. It should feel fairly smooth going down and very rough coming up.

Can you show the stone lay out for an inside corner? What’s the best way to make an inside corner look natural?

If that's an unpainted masonry wall you can bond the wall and scratch coat it without having to run the wire lath buddy. Also, that lath job would never pass code around here. 1- it's not overlapped at least 3 inches. 2- you need to tie in your corners 3 inches. OR fold the lath around the corners. 3- You need dimpled lath (furring) so the scratch coat keys into behind the lath and doesn't just hang on the surface. You got hundreds of pounds of stone hanging on that lath that just has a mud key on the surface lol. You still have a ways to go in learning kid. I've been in the trades a long time and one thing I've noticed is when a man learns a few things, he gets his head puffed up like he knows it all. This will absolutely destroy your ability to continue learning. Keep at it young man, and remember to leave your ego behind so you can continue learning.

How would you waterproof this if it was a would wall

You are wrong. The mud won't fall out. Every pro I have seen pushes the mud upwards which means that the lath accepts the mud from bottom to top so the mesh is angled down.
