My Mushroom Growing Operation Using Termites in My Giant Rainforest Vivarium

I'm conspiring with special termites to grow a highly valued mushroom species called Termitomyces. It's a fungus that is known to only be cultivated in the wild by termites, who farm the fungus as a food source within their nests. Scientists still don't know how to artificially cultivate the fungus in a lab or grow it agriculturally like most other edible mushrooms. The issue is that the mushroom and the termites are involved in a symbioitic relationship, where one cannot survive without the other, and so, using the natural conditions of my giant rainforest vivarium, I hope to be the first in the world to grow Termitomyces indoors. This is the epic story of how I intend to do it. Hope you enjoy Season 3, Episode 2 of my Ecosystem Vivarium Series. Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

When you said the line "completely legal"
That kinda scared me

From one nature educator who loves insects to another, I tip my hat. I'm sure you won over a tonne of people who never would have cared about this termite species and their mushroom species. Noticed some of your music choices being quite fun in this video too.

I have to give you credit your show is better quality than the high budget mainstream science shows. You keep us interested and ask for our help when you have a question. Keep up the good work son.

There is something oddly cute watching a spider clean itself. I can't quite explain it, but it is very satisfying to watch.

As a mycologist I can’t tell you how awesome this episode was to see. I always appreciate you calling out fungi in addition to the plants and animals

I know it's not ideal to flood the vivarium, and the power outage was probably quite terrifying. But, it kind of has a nice irony to it that the typhoon season essentially caused the flood inside the vivarium, kind of like its own mini typhoon. I think it's kinda cool that plantdora got to experience something like this, especially since it's built to perfectly imitate what a natural rainforest would experience. Like all the plants and creatures were used to living an almost utopian life with perfect weather everyday, and now they had to face some adversity.

Love how he’s like: you won’t believe what I saw! When he literally provides video evidence and it makes logical sense for that to be the case.

Strangely enough I have always thought of termites as cute. They are like the chubby cousins of ants that don't come after our food. The Bavarian pub music during the poop tube construction just cemented that in my head.

I've been watching you since you were raising colonies in testtubes and small setups. It is such an inspiration to see what your channel has become. Excellent quality footage, fit for any BBC documentary, informative explanation, and thrilling adventures. I don't have the means to support you, but I wil always watch your videos man. Good job.

My Sunday Routine: wakeup at 6 am to see if a new episode has dropped, but delay my gratification until I shower, make breakfast, then sit down to enjoy before the hubs wakes up. AntsCanada is my Sunday morning vibe!

Pretty cool that the flooding outside was mimicked without trying.

My children suggested naming the gnome ants "The Party Empire". They love the show and watch it religiously, eagerly awaiting new episodes every week.

I'm glad that we got a lot of Ant focus this episode. The Vivarium series has absolutely been a peak for the channel, but I've been missing the ants a little bit recently.

Antscanada should win an award if the mushrooms grow. He stated that it has baffled scientists for a while but if hes the first to do it, that makes him truly one of the smartest men in the world.

And remember its ant love forever.

You are probably too big of a channel to see this, but I'll say it anyway. You remind me of myself and some friends I have. Always tinkering around. Testing new ideas or proving old ones, just because. Keep that wonder in your heart and I promise, you'll never get old. I wish you all the success you so deserve, truly.
