I remember reading and watching it, it was one of my favorite book in elementary. Now i’m here chasing a high i only get from heights. Some might call me stupid and reckless, but once you’re up there up feeling the wind blowing against you, every thought in your head disappears, for a second it makes you think your on top of the world, but at the same time you feel so little any moment could be your last.

When I was little I loved to read this book. It’s been on my mind recently and it took me a little bit to find the name of the book and now seeing it again feels really nostalgic :)

This was the first thing that got me interested in these towers. I’m still to this day amazed by his bravery and the true beauty of these buildings. Such a travesty, 19 years ago, I wish I was alive to have a more personal connection, but I still feel super emotional though I know no one who died.

This is the book that taught me about 9/11. I was 9 years old. While I had lived in the US during 9/11 itself, when I was 3, I didn’t remember the day, and I moved to Europe shortly afterwards. 9/11 wasn’t in curriculums. No one had thought of the children who didn’t remember yet. They assumed we knew. Since I wasn’t in the US, the culture surrounding me didn’t obviously reflect 9/11—at least not obviously. So it took a trip to my school library, where there was a display of Caldecott Medal winners, for me to finally learn about the day, in 2008. If there was any way to learn, I’m glad it was this book.
