When Gowron looks at you, you stay looked at!

Interestingly, the writers admitted it was a mistake to kill K'Ehleyr after only 2 appearances. She was just too strong of a character, and had great chemistry with Worf.

Luckily Suzy Plakson returned to Trek multiple times afterwards.

Fun bit of trivia: Gowron was originally intended to be a minor throwaway character but when Robert O'Reilly put his eyes into the role and his immense and intense acting skill to boot he so enthralled the writers that they continued coming up with reasons to bring Gowron back again and again. His appearances and Tony Todd's pretty much kept me glued to Trek for years.

"Where is O'Brien? We need our best people now." I love your commitment to the show. Commander Murray, you have the conn.

"Doesn't Worf ever get to be happy?"

Gowron's crazy eyes never get old. He's the most intense Klingon out there.

Frakes really understands Star Trek. He's responsible for some of the best episodes of the series, and the movie First Contact, and some of the best episodes of other Trek series as well.

Jen: "They're not going to kill her off are they?"
They kill her off

Jen: “Don’t say Romulan!”

If O'Brien isn't in a transporter room, he's kayaking in the holodeck.

12:38 Riker and Data strolling to the action. "I don't know what Worf's doing, but let's give him enough time to finish it, Data." They know what's up.

This is one of those episodes that deserves multiple re watches. Worf at his best. And consequences for actions while in uniform, really well done.

I prefer to think of it as Worf avenging his mate Kaylar, rather than Worf committing murder. As a Klingon, he had the right to avenge her.

The moment Worf shows up on Duras's ship.

"Kaylar... Was my MATE "

Duras thought he had gamed the Klingon culture's system of honor to protect himself from anything but even unrecognized by Klingon society every other Klingon in that room knew Worf couldn't be stopped, nor would they try. Durad HAD to fight Worf.

I love that. I am ashamed a bit because Kaylar was SUCH an awesome character. I really wish they had decided to keep her alive as cool as Worf getting vengeance was.

When Worf said “I am your father” I picked up a small echo of Vader’s voice in that statement.

Worf is more of a traditional Klingon than any of the Klingons we ever see on the show. He is so traditional that he does not see how corrupt the actual Klingons are until it is too late. He accepted discommendation because he thought it would protect the power structure. They killed his mate, and he sought Klingon revenge. He is more Klingon than the Klingons. He was raised by humans with the knowledge of Klingon tradition, but not the experiences that lead to who they actually are.

Word didn’t murder Duras, he killed him fairly in honorable combat, which was actually more than he deserved. He died like a warrior even though he never lived like one. It was the only mercy Worf was willing to grant him, because Worf is just that much of a decent guy. And since Duras’s duplicity in murdering Kimpek and conspiring with Romulans was exposed (though not enough to clear Worf’s family name), he won’t be honored after death even though he died in honorable combat. Son Worf did the honorable thing, the good guy thing, and Duras still ended up losing all around.

But keep an eye on Gowron now. He and Worf will have quite a future together, that crosses over to Deep Space Nine, and it’s one of the finer Klingon arcs ever.

Suzy Plakson was one of my first celebrity crushes. She just exudes that snarky, fun energy.
