As a medieval nerd, the term "ancient weapon" being used to describe these weapons pisses me off. As a fan of fantasy though, these are cool-looking, but not even close to historically accurate.

Surprisingly, "the grin-reaper" is the closest to a real weapon from ancient times. For a brief period, basically wooden versions of that were used and called "war fans" or "fanned axes" and were from ancient egypt.
