Sooooo, confession time- every video I’ve done in this channel so far has been done on my phone and with my finger
But I finally got an actual tablet and pen so hopefully the quality of the videos will go up
Um yeah don’t know how proud I feel of this one but I think it’s pretty good
Ok onto talking about the actual video-
I remembered this song existed through a TikTok actually.
I loved this song ever since I discovered it through animatics (*cough SVTFOE anyone) and it fit Tommy’s view on Revivebur and Revivebur’s thoughts on being perceived as someone he’s not anymore.
(Obligatory “This is Roleplay”)
Tommy’s in disbelief that Wilburs back, he’s come to terms that he’s dead/starting to grasp just how terrible Wilbur was in Pogtopia. When he does see him back for the first time, he can’t help but hope that the Wilbur that came back was the Wilbur before Lmanburg and before everything went terribly wrong in his life. He looks in his eyes and sees the person Wilbur used to be, and at that point he’ll satisfied if it turned out to be Ghostbur in Aliveburs body.
Obviously that gets crushed by Wilbur who outright says he’s not the man he was and he will likely never be like that again. What he went though in life and in death changed him and he’s not going to pretend to be someone he’s not.
He’s pretty upset that people seemed to move on from his death pretty quickly too, from Phil immediately moving in and bonding with Techno to Fundy and Niki going off without a glance back. Even Tommy and Tubbo moved on to hanging out with Ranboo, replacing Wilbur with a a happier, innocent version of him (which at that point- can he really be considered Wilbur?) rather then grieving who he actually was.
Course that all changes when he notices Quackity's message, and it’s proof that at least someone has been thinking about the real him after all this time. After the visit, Wilbur and Tommy reflect on their friendship. Tommy realizes Wilburs not the Older Brother figure he was/ wanted Pre-Lmanburg and Wilbur realizes Tommy’s not the eager-to-help, cheerful, younger sibling he wanted to mentor. Tommy feeling like he’s waking up in the ocean all over again from his Exile days- Wilburs presence/eyes are comforting but deadly. Wilbur was so kind in the past that Tommy feels like he is safe, of course that’s changed now but he can’t shake off the comforting air just hanging with Wilbur gave, feeling like it’ll pull him down, drowning him in this false sense of security that could lead him to possible death if he doesn’t wake up in time.
They both realize these truths that “were to hard to be true” to accept in the past, ending with Tommy leaving Wilbur alone (for now. He’ll come back, he always does) and Wilbur pushing that loss aside to pursue a greater challenge.
(That doesn’t mean Wilbur doesn’t care for Tommy though. On the contrary, Wilbur was telling the truth when he said he did care about Tommy, but he knows and accepted that Tommy will always see him as the bad guy, and there no point in trying to change that view when he knows it’ll be futile. If there’s one thing that haven’t changed about Tommy throughout his time of knowing him, is that he’s stubborn on his views, especially those he considers “wrongins”)
Nice, so now that dramatics are over- the next video I have planned is much more lighthearted and focus on the Las Nevada’s crew! I’m looking forward to how this turns out soooo
