The resurrection was to be when the power of the holy people was completely shattered, Daniel 12. That can be no other time than AD70.

But the earth abides forever.

According to Genesis 8:21-22, Ecclesiasstes 1:4, Psalms 78:69, Psalms 104:5 planet Earth/civilization endures for ever.

David Chilton was a full preterist. Recently deceased Gary North called him a heretic. But, I think we have to be careful here. If Jesus came back in 68 AD and the Resurrection happened then, that is, the asleep Jewish patriarchs and justified men and women of the OT, as well as the recently deceased martyrs of the Church, then that scripture of Paul writing that the teaching that Resurrection had already happened is heresy, would not apply to this 68 AD scenario. He wrote that in regards to the recent past, around 55 AD. The only thing that might be a violation of The Creed would be “He will come to judge the quick and dead, ” a future event, but if David Chilton believed in the crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ, I don’t see where he can be called a heretic. But that’s just me.

So when Jesus said quiet clearly, that all the things that He had prophesied to occur, including His return, in THAT generation then living in MT 24, MK 13, and LK 21; He was just yanking our chain? He didn't know what He was talking about? I think I will stay a full-preterist and BELIEVE the words that Jesus prophesied and live by it! At least I will have believed Jesus for what He as the God in Flesh actually said!

There is no "end of time" in the scriptures. It is actually the "time of the end" that is revealed. The end of the Old Covenant "Heaven and Earth, " (ISA 51:16) that came to a fiery ending in 70AD by the Romans. The new Covenant Kingdom of God has no end in the scriptures. The "sign" of the Son of Man in heaven was that destruction that was seen! The Prophet Daniel said that the Kingdom would never be destroyed nor ever end. That's it! Either Daniel's is true or it is not. You choose!

I used to be a dispensationalist/premill and just recently (about a year ago) came to my senses!! but I do wonder where in the scriptures does it talk about Jesus' final coming? Im still learning and have a long way to go!!!!

Actually I don't believe it will end. Culture may change physical location even the planet may change but Spiritually the Kingdom will never end. Isa 9:7 New American Standard Bible
There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of armies will accomplish this.

If you think preterists deny the resurrection, you've misunderstood our position.

Answer: Luke 1:32-33 plus many other scriptures says “The Lord G-d will give Him (Jesus) the throne of His father David, and He will reign over jacob’s descendants forever; His Kingdom will never end”.

According to scripture, there is no end if you are a full preterist. Partial preterist believe the end is not for us to know what G-d has placed in His power. Only G-d knows the end. Either way, they both sound most reasonable based on scripture clearly.

Dispensationalist are always trying to out guess G-d by predicting the time of the rapture and end times. I find dispensationalist views and efforts in predicting the rapture much more heretical over preterist’s.

This is a bad question to a non- preterist because he will give you an answer that makes preterist look as they have no answer.

So I'm just wondering, if the only thing left to occur is Jesus' Second Coming and all of Revelation describes events that took place in the 1st. century, are there any signs to be observed at all that will occur between now and Jesus' return...?

Where in the scriptures is there and end of human civilization?

I used to be everything but full Preterism has the best explanatory power of all other positions. You call it heresy, I call it following the Scripture.

Full Preterism is the only way that is honest with the text.

As a former Full Preterist and was taught under the "father" of Full Preterism, Ed Stevens when that movement first started. You're right, brother Hank, it is heresy. Thanks be to God that I left that group after a careful study. I pray that some, if not all, would leave that terribly twisted teaching.

I was a full preterist once. It’s nothing but a heresy and most of them that have any following are hucksters or can’t deal or will never try to deal with the implications of their beliefs because it would either hurt their book sales or show they are in an inconsistent and silly belief system.

If you make EVERYTHING a metaphor, you can MAKE the Bible agree with ANYTHING you say.

Revelation 20-The thousand year (Millennial) reign is a metaphor for 40 years.

Matthew 24:9, “…you will be hated by ALL nations for My name’s sake.” Metaphor for surrounding nations of Israel.

Matthew 24:14, “…this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in ALL the world as a witness to ALL the nations, and then the end will come.” No evidence that the Gospel reached ALL nations by 70 AD.

Matthew 24:21, “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.” This first century tribulation for the Jews was NOT the greatest tribulation EVER. Hitler tortured and murdered 6 million Jews in the Nazi Holocaust. How can we say that first century was the worst ever, when we are NOT done with time yet?

Matthew 24:26 says, ““Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” Metaphor: Jesus’s appearing barely made the historical writings: basically Josephus and Tacitus mentioned what appeared to be chariots in the clouds. This is NOT His appearing being as lightning shining from east to west.

Matthew 24:29 says, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” The Preterist will say the stars can’t literally fall to earth so it must be a spiritual event.
Revelation 12 says, “Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to earth…Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” This says the stars that were cast to the earth were Satan’s angels. So, the sun could literally be darkened and the moon could literally appear red, and then the stars falling would be Satan’s angels.

Revelation 13:5 says, “The beast (anti-christ) was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over EVERY TRIBE, PEOPLE, LANGUAGE AND NATION. 8 ALL INHABITANTS of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life.” EVERY tribe, people, language and nation did NOT worship the preterist anti-christ.

Revelation 13:11-15 says, “Then I saw a second beast…(who) made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. Was the anti-christ’s fatal wound healed in the first century? Did the second beast (false prophet) cause fire to come down from Heaven? Did this second beast make a statue that could speak and cause all who did not worship the statue to die?
Revelation 14:6 says, “Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to EVERY nation, tribe, language and people.” Was there a first century angelic messenger that proclaimed the Gospel to EVERY nation, tribe and language? Notice it doesn’t say to the surrounding nations.

Revelation 15:5 says, “After this I looked, and I saw in heaven the temple…and it was opened. 6 Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues…Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God.” Did that happen in the first century or was that yet another metaphor?

Revelation 16:3 says, “The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and EVERY living thing in the sea died.” Of course there is NO record of that happening in the first century, so what is the metaphorical significance?

Revelation 16:8 says, “The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9 They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God…” Another metaphor. But what again, is the metaphorical significance?

Revelation 16:6 says, “The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.” What does this metaphor mean?

Revelation 16:14 says, “They are demonic spirits that perform signs, and they go out to the kings of the WHOLE WORLD, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty…Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.” Again, what does this metaphor mean?

I could go on and on, but this is already so long as to border on the ridiculous. To arrive at the FULL Preterist view, you have to be fluent in metaphorical, Hebraic, apocalyptic language.
