Oh Devon, we ♥ you!! DNA is simply the new toy and Andy is probably the most prolific teacher on the subject and his videos get shared in FB groups, a.lot. Plus DNA tools are new concepts and people are constantly re-watching. Keep teaching!! We diehard researchers will always be looking to expand our knowledge and that base will get expanded as DNA creates more REAL genealogists. 💋❤💋❤ P.S. You always look awesome in RED (love the lips in red too).

I just subscribed to your channel this year, so this was a good video for “what should I look at first?”

Please never take down the Coping with Slaveholding Ancestors video! It helped me so much. Wikitree has a project to help people record and cross-reference records.

Thanks for all your info. I was wondering, I haven't started a digital family tree due to privacy concerns, but is it possible to do one without large companies having access to your family tree data? I am guessing offline downloadable programs like rootsmagic, legacy or gramps (the ones I'm tossing up between) are a great place to start as the information is solely your own (I hope??) but I understand they have integration features with the larger companies, is there any way i can research an ancestor on ancestry, and update my offline tree without ancestry having access to it? Do you think this is realistic/achievable or will it just make the process much longer and more laborious? Hope that makes sense as i'm still in the research phase of how to go about this with privacy in mind. Thank you.
