Athlete's foot is a fungal infection that affects your feet

One of the main symptoms of Athlete's foot is itchy white patches between your toes, as well as sore flaky patches on the feet.

The skin can look red, and if the infection is quite bad then you can get cracked skin in between your toes.

If it's not treated, the infection can spread to your toenails and cause a fungal nail infection.

To treat athletes foot you can try antifungal medicines which can be purchased from a pharmacy. They usually take a few weeks to work and they come in creams, sprays, as well as powders.
Some are only suitable for adults and you might need to try a few different treatments to find the one that works for you.

If these treatments from the pharmacists aren’t working then you should see your GP.
They might send off skin scrapings to the lab, prescribe a steroid and antifungal cream or sometimes – if the infection is really resistant to all other treatments – antifungal tablets.
To prevent athletes foot here are my top 3 tips:

- Keep your feet dry
- Air your feet – take off your shoes when youre in the house
- Wear clean socks daily and if possible try find socks which are 100% cotton

If you’ve had athletes foot and treated it successfully let me know what worked for you in the comments section.

veen two since i am trying to get rid of this. i neglected it in the beginning not knowing what it was exactly, until it spread to my hands. i saw a doctor, she gave me pills and cream. it got less worst but still i have usual dry hand, and when i wear socks and it starts to get warm it is itching, i still use ointment and fingered socks, change my socks every day, and wash them with bleach at 95C been doing that for more than a year.
if any one knows an excellent and definitive treatment please advice.

I had it for months and i was able to get rid of it with a combination of athletes foot powder spray and medicated foot powder.
Took about a week and it hasn't returned

Potassium permanganate or "Condies Crystals". Put it in a foot bath and use for 2 months. It'll turn your feet purple but clears after a week when you stop the treatment.

Soccer player - Mine wouldn’t go so I had to use the antibiotic medicine from my doctor 😢 this was 2 years ago and now I’m scared it’s back again. I wash my feet daily and I am beginning to spray them with fungi killer I’m hopping it goes away this time

Serious question: Is it okay to scratch my feet while I have athletes foot? It’s infected but it feels so GOOD to scratch it.
