Staggering brilliance. She plays the song differently every time with a few references to prior improvs here and there. When I saw her do this on the BBC Proms video, I literally became obsessed with her music. She's an idea factory and though she displays impeccable technique, she never loses the soul of the melody. And speaking of melodies, I haven't once heard her end a phrase with an out of place note. There's never a moment where her attention strays from what she's doing. She entirely and fully immersed in the music and that's that. As I musician, I learn so much from her just from watching her spirit at play. She is a treasure indeed.

I bet she could play the hardest piano pieces ever written without ever stop staring at you with a smile

The virtuosity is obvious, but the endurance and energy it took to play like this for over 12 min. is astonishing

Oscar, Errol, Michel.... they're all gone - but here we are fortunate enough to have a little bit of all, and then some .... in ONE mighty person!

I think as an all-round pianist, she is currently the best in the world.

One does not normally associate humour with jazz but Hiromi's miraculous version here is full of wit and a certain cheekiness which, to these ears at least, is utterly beguiling - and that's before you even begin to think about her technical skills. What an artist!

I can't truly think of any male pianist that compares to her, I don't think it's humanly possible to be any better than she is.

What an exquisitely unique and mesmerizing version of this tune. She’s got rhythm indeed. Among many other things.

EASILY the most ENTERTAINING pianist I've ever seen. Some pianists can go fast but Hiromi plays fast AND musically. SEN-SAtional! I can't even THINK this fast : )

This is the Pianist to show to those egoistic Pianists you know. I assure you ... any egoistic pianist will have their egos crushed beyond repair after they see Hiromi Uehara

She goes so deep into the crazy side of jazz its almost like hard techno jazz, it's amazing, the notes and rhythms are wild, contrasting and unexpected, and also absolutely perfect. every piece she plays is like a wild psychedelic journey, I love her style so much its an amazing blend of enchantingly beautiful while also being roller-coaster exciting.

Truly sensational.
If this was only the intro to the show the audience must have been truly desperate to tip the staff on the way out for having experienced such a mesmerising performance. Truly wow, I've seen less talent in entire tours than what was compacted into those nine minutes. Great to have discovered this woman and her enthusiasm for reciting.

Give this woman whatever she wants. She deserves it. Such love, pouring out of her music.... :)

Wow...Every time I hear this phenomenal artist I think, "She's more surprising than the last time I heard her. " Amazing mastery of her instrument.
