MANGA SPOILERS!

0.) Ichibayashi High
- Fluke win at nationals, didnt see them play so this is a troll ranking. But I have seem some interesting theories that Kondo and Mochida, two players we saw listed at the Youth Training camp play there. Somehow beat both Kamomedai and Fukurodani so who knows.

1.) Itachiyama Institute
- previous winner of nationals. Beat Inarizaki in the interhigh finals and Fukurodani in the Tokyo prefectural qualifiers. They have one of the top 3 aces in Sakusa. The top libero in the nation Komori. And Iizuna, who won the best setter award in junior high. Judging by their players skill sets and post-time skip stats they are likely a dominant defensive and offensive team.

2.) Kamomedai High
- the most complete team that we see play. They run the best blocking system in the nation and have Hoshiumi, potentially the most well-rounded player in the series. Beat Karasuno. Every player fits like a glove, the team as a whole doesn’t have any notable weaknesses. Plus their coached by Aaron Murphy, who’s well above a high school level and is the only opposing coach we see making rotation adjustments mid-game.

3.) Inarizaki High
- similar to Karasuno. Inarizaki high has the most spread out offensive in the series along with the most amount of confirmed jump / float servers. They are star stunned at every position. The Miyas, a top 5 ace in Aran, and the best offensive middle in the series. They made the finals in that interhighs nationals. Though, their floor defense is mediocre and they have a tendency to be inconsistent. A talented but definitely not perfect team with notable flaws.

4.) Karasuno High
- despite what Haikyuu wants us to believe, Karasuno is stacked to the brim. They have the most varied offense in the series and are full of individual talent. Though because they are a team of specialist, specific rotations are considerably weaker in certain areas. Which can be taken advantage of. Plus their play style is overall less consistent. Still they can pretty much adapt to anybody and give the teams above them a run for their money. Though they benefit from being the protagonist at times, when in full stride Karasuno is very hard to stop.

5.) Shiratorizawa Academy
- a team with a ton of physical fire power and a spread out offense. They house the best trio of wings in the series, all 3 of them capable of being aces on national teams. Ushijima in particular who is hinted to be the best high school ace in the nation. Despite their overwhelming fire power, Shiratorizawa is held back by their predictable offense and inconsistent blocking lineup.

6.) Mujinazaka High
- if we saw more of them Mujinazaka has potential to have a REALLY good team. An extremely intelligent setter. Kiryu who’s one of the top 3 aces and probably the best outside in the series. Two nationally recognized middle blockers, one of whom blocked Bokuto, backed up by a tall defensive right side and a solid libero. They are noted to be a strong serving team and are a intelligent blocking team with smart defensive schemes. But they don’t have interesting offensive plays or firepower outside of their ace, with solid contributions but ultimately being solely focused on the left side with Kiryu hard carrying on that end. But it took Bokuto’s 120% to beat them.

7.) Fukurodani Academy
- Fukurodani is a top team in Tokyo and their team is structured perfectly to support their top 5 ace Bokuto. Overall they have one of the most well-rounded supporting cast in the series with a high individual level of play. But because of this, their team as a whole doesn’t really excel in a specific area compared to the teams above them. Bokuto is also extremely inconsistent, and when he isn’t operating their offense becomes a bit predictable and they lack some of that oomph of other teams. But if you think Akaashi would preform better in a rematch and Bokuto mostly solved his consistency problems, then they are probably over Mujinazaka.

8.) Nekoma High
- the best floor defensive team in the series. Nekoma is extremely tenacious and adaptable. They house the best libero and individual middle we see play in Yaku and Kuroo. Versatile floor defenders. And an extremely intelligent setter who peels the blockers off his hitters. Most of the time in sports the most disciplined and smartest teams that punish you for mistakes tend to take the top spot. But they don’t quite have enough here mostly because of Kenma’s stamina not being suited for a prolonged match and not having an elite hitter to send the ball to in a pinch.

9.) Aoba Johsai High
- Aoba Johsai accounting for improvement by the Spring nationals are one of the more versatile teams out there. They are very good at combo plays and defense, and have two very different lineups with either Kyotani or Kunimi at opposite. Leaning into their defense or giving Kyotani the reigns on offense, letting Iwaizumi to slide into more of a support role. This team becomes exceptionally more deadly on Oikawa’s serve rotation, and he knows how to use every hitter to full effect. Though much like Nekoma they are lacking in a dominant hitter.

10.) Tsubakihara Academy
- Tsubakihara made nationals back to back. Teradomari is the tallest ace in the series and is probably similar to the likes of Asahi in terms of physical strength and serving. Maruyama is a very solid, do it all, OH2. And Echigo is a nationals level setter who spreads the ball out well.

My opinion :
1) Itachiyama (Winners of the previous spring tournament, Winners of Interhigh, Lost to Inuyashi high in the spring semifinals due to Lizuna's (Itachiyama's setter) injury. Posses some of the best players in japan. Sakusa (top 1 ace), Motoya (best libero), Lizuna (Best junior high setter).
2) Ichibayashi (Winners of the Spring tournament, beat fukurodani in the finals, no info about their players)
3) Inarizaki ( Runner ups of inter-high, posses amazing players, Miya Atsumu (Best high school setter), Ojiro aran (top 5 ace) etc. Overall a balanced team)
4) Mujinazaka (4th place in inter-high, Have some amazing players like Kiryu (top 3 ace), Powerful blockers known as the twin towers, intelligent setter. Consistently make it into the nationals)
5) Fukurodani (Beat Mujinazaka, Inuyashi high but lost to ichibayashi in thr finals. Runner ups of the tokyo qualifiers. Posses top 4 ace (bukoto), A strong middle blocker (Washio) etc.
6) Karasuno ( Close game against kamomedai but ultimately lost due to Hinata's Injury. Have Individually strong players like kageyama (one of the best setter, a volleyball genius), Nishinoya ( Got best libero award in junior high, also a volleyball genius, Tsukkishima ( persistent blocker)
7) Kamomedai ( Beat karasuno but lost the quaterfinals, Have Hirugami (Considered to be the best blocker of the series), Korai ( Best all rounded player.
8) Nekoma ( One of the strongest defence system in the series. Some amazing players like Yaku ( praised by Nishinoya), Kuroo ( Tsukkishima's teacher 😅), Kenma ( Amazing setter and Nekoma's brain).
9) Shiratorizawa ( One of the strongest offrnsive team, Have Ushiwaka (top 1 ace) and other strong players.
10)Aoba johsai ( Have talented players like oikawa ( The great 👑) etc)

U all what are u talking about karasuno should be on top, despite having the first yrs as setter and spiker they really adapted to those higher teams with greater potential and chance to win so that’s what makes them protagonist and shows how they come figure out and carry on and in end win .
