Formed in 2001, #Audioslave became one of the biggest rock acts in the world thanks to an iconic collaboration of #Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and members of the Rage Against the Machine, including Tom Morello.

In their six-year existence, Audioslave fused distinct musical inspirations to produce global hits like Show me how to live, be yourself, set it off and Like a stone.

But only a few people know how the band got its name.

At the onset, the band named itself Civilian, even performing under this name briefly.

However legal issues forced them to reconsider. They considered "The United States", but that too had legal implications.

Eventually, a friend suggested the name Audioslave, which the band only reluctantly adopted.
