BMW X5, X6, X7 Rear Brake Pads DIY w/Service Light Reset

BMW X5, X6 and X7 use the same brakes so here is a video on how to change the rear brakes on your G05, G06 and G07 BMW. I go over step by step on how to prepare the car by going into the diagnostics mode and enabling workshop mode to removing the wheel and the caliper to change out the brake pads. We talk parts and which parts you will need depending on the options your car has and the torque specs as well. Changing just the pads like I did is very inexpensive and will save you hundreds if not thousands compared to going to a dealer.

Parts:
Decode your VIN and check if you have these options:
S2NHA - M-Sport Brakes
S3ACA - Trailer Coupling Brakes

Part numbers you will need:
Regular Brakes:
S2NHA & S3ACA Options = No

Trailer Coupling:
S3ACA Option = Yes

M-Sport:
S2NHA Option = Yes

Thank you for sharing this for the community.
I service all my cars. Never owned a BMW but planning to buy an X7 in the near future and you are giving me more confidence that I can maintain it myself. Thank you!

The best bit for me came at 4:08 regarding pad wear. Good stuff 😎✊🏾

I changed my brakes not to long ago on my X7 as well, I cannot express how much I love my x7. Great video! P.s I was 13000 miles overdue😭 The Drivers side rear was basically a dorito chip and my passenger rear was basically polishing the rotor😂

You explained things well. Thanks for pointing out the service mode. This will be helpful. As already pointed out, I have found it very important to clean old grease from the guide pins and put fresh grease on them. This gives you a chance to inspect the guide pin boots also.

Great Video!! Excellent step by step explanation, including great camera positioning. Liked it so much, I decided subscribe to your channel.

Its good practice to grease the guide pins or you risk the caliper seizing.

Your video is the best one out there. Very informative and clear. Thanks for sharing. I decided to purchase d70 lite because of it. Question for you. Do we need to open brake fluid reservoir cap when pushing in pistons? 8:52

Great video, just what I needed ! I think I have the exact same car as yours ;-) Did you ever do a fuel filter swap on the X7? At 65k kilometers I would like to do mine but not sure if it can be done on the driveway. Thank you for the videos sofar, they have been a lifesaver !

Great video - thanks! Just curious how you got into Activate Repair Shop mode from the main menu of the scan tool you use? I have the same. Thank you again!

Can you use Bimmerlink to deactivate the parking brake? Also you mentioned you could take out rotor without taking out the carrier, hows that possible?

Followed your directions. Replaced the rear pads and sensor. Did not have the scan tool so I did it manually. Now I have a parking brake warning that will not go away and there is the word PARK on my dash continuously.
Can you tell me how to reset the parking brake? I am not sure if I can drive the car without damaging it. I drove it down the street slowly and didn’t feel as though the parking brake was engaged. Thanks.
