The Shure SM7B, considered "end-game" by many podcasters and content creators is a legendary mic that's been around for years. A mic that's evolved from the original SM7 used to record Micheal Jackson's classic album, Thriller.

This mic needs no introduction, but does its younger brother. the SM58 stack up, at 400 dollars cheaper?

Find out today if your hard-earned money will give you a pro sound or if something much more affordable will get you by.

This mic shootout is NOT sponsored and was done with my own money.

I think the sm58 is good, but for spoken word The SM7B wins in your tests as well. It sounds smooth as well with your voice both close up & faraway. Also the SM7B seems to have no mouth noise as well at lest the unwanted sounds in spoken words you don't want as well. And there both built like a tank. When it comes to broadcasting as we know half of it is the sound & the other half is the looks as well. When people see the SM7B they know that that person went above & beyond to have that clear & up in your face sound gives that look as not matter what you say you mean business as well. I would say to any on streaming on twitch FB or even YT first see if you even like streaming as well before spending that much money on a mic if you find out you don't like it then is less of a loss. But with both as well they both hold there value on the used market as well. Thanks for you time on this impressive test as well. Even though in the yell part that was great as well many don't do that.
