So easy to understand. I think I will subscribe to your channel, don't know why I went anywhere else to explain dropdowns :-)

Shane! As always --THE BEST! I just worked through another cascading video created by another well-known author. Could NOT figure it out and it was presented as "oh -- so very easy"! As usual, I knew right where to come when I was stuck.

What you do best is teach us how to thing through these things in the most clear, concise, non-intimidating, funny and kind way! Don't know what we'd do without you!

Thanks ever and always so much!

Hello Shane!

I'm working my way through your videos. They're absolutely brilliant. 20 minutes is a great 'bite sized' chunk & you absolutely don't need to worry that "it's not pretty" - showing the functionality gets straight to the point. Love your style & sense of fun!

This channel is like finding a gold ore!
All the "what if i could build an app to help with that at work" is suddenly within reach with PowerApps.
Together with your work there is an epiphany every. single. evening! Thanks Shane!

So helpful and clearly explained. Thank you. On the Refresh button, I added a reset of the two dropdowns so that the form would clear out any existing choices. This will be an ideal solution for choosing locations in a help desk form.

was amazing, your solution inspired me to think of another one

you have a field you want to be filled from a selected item from a drop-down menu
here is what you do
1 create a dropdown button
2 let the field default value be the dropdown button selected value
3 put the dropdown button above the field to look like the field itself is a dropdown menu

How update a label depending on cascading drop down: Example: 1st drop down HR is selected; cascading dropdown - manager is selected ; Now one flexible label should appear no.of new joinees this month; in similar way if IT is selected and in 2nd drop manager is selected label should tell no.of project hours this month and values entered in text boxes against that labels should go to that particular column in sharepoint list or excel - Thank you in advance and appreciate your high energy classes

I'm really grateful for you sharing your knowledge! I've been learning a lot. Your sense of humor makes the videos lighter and your straightforwardness for explaining the contents is quite valuable.

You are a life saver! The Distinct() trick helped me with filtering data based on a dropdown list that was made in SharePoint, on which I had no control on what choices the user had.

I try to be on time, but here I am joining this party 2 years later -- almost to the day! Great video, Shane, as always. The main topic may be Cascading Dropdown controls, but I really like the bonus tips here. They may be little things, but it's the little things that are the finishing touches that make a truly professional-looking app, isn't it?

FYI - For using a SharePoint list instead of an excel table, I found that in the second dropdown, the data type also has to be Result (instead of Value). (It also then requires a value in each dropdown, auto-selecting the first available row instead of leaving it blank for the user to select an option. Not sure yet how to fix that issue, but I'm still learning.)
