Listen to my podcast, @DoctorMikeCheckup here:

In this video we take a look at some tiktoks that make me question my future in medicine. Well, not really, but it feels like that. Today we talk about babies, stepping on legos, viagra, inflatable water sports, trampolines, cats, basketball, boxing, head trauma, kickboxing, glass shards, vaginal steaming, the Liver King, foods that make you shorter, weight loss tips, papaya seeds, prescriptions, newfoundland dogs, ectopic pregnancy, incisional hernia, hyperbaric chambers, bone marrow, raw liver, EMF (electro magnetic fields) and of course CHEST COMPRESSIONS CHEST COMPRESSIONS CHEST COMPRESSIONS!

I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

What you said about first watching a child's reaction when they fall, really brought me back. When my kids fell, they'd look at me before reacting so I knew they were OK. I'd just say, "it's OK, you're durable." And they'd get up and go play. When my daughter was little, my mom came over and my daughter fell. My mom gasped and started getting up. My daughter said, " it's OK, I durble" it was so cute! If they didn't look at me and started crying, I'd go to them. But when they looked at me before reacting, I knew it was nothing serious.

My golden retriever, whose sadly no longer with us, used to lay in the snow until she melted a dog shaped outline down to the wood on our deck. Then, she'd get up, move to where there was more snow, and lay down again. It was her favourite thing in the winter. She was perfectly fine so long as we dried her properly when she came in.

I love that Dr. Mike is never like, "This person is effin' crazy." He always just calmly explains what they are doing wrong and why they might think the way they do. Even when he freaks out, it's on the misinformation, not the person.

The way Mike's frustrated screams kept getting louder during the "vagina steaming" bit was honestly funnier than it should be

I can say the glass thing is real. My mom had a very awful car accident and after having some pain in her forearm and a small bump, 20 years later when she was at sea she saw that bump start to bleed and actually found she had a piece of broken glass buried in her arm from that car accident. So yep, it can happen.

Don't tell Mike I'm eating pretzels while watching this video.

I did CPR on a friend. When I broke her ribs, I cried! (I was also a teen) Thankfully, I had been taught how to give them properly in a middle school health class. Too bad no one mentioned that can happen. No, seriously, I had no idea. I thought police might try to go after me for assault. 😂 The doctor and ER staff commended me and let me know that OFTEN happens when done correctly. Their support and encouragement stuck with me. I went into nursing.

Dr Mike: “that’s really dangerous”
Also Dr Mike: “is that roulette on the water? That’s so cool, I would do that.”

8:51 I’ve heard that referred to as “dad pats” lmao. I assume because that’s how a lot of dads (older guys in general) pet the family dog/cat. There’s a pretty clear difference between hitting your pet and giving them a firm pat.
If it’s hurting the animal it’s gonna be pretty obvious. The animal will run away, get aggressive and try to defend itself by biting or clawing, or they will visibly cower in fear.
But lots of animals enjoy being pet this way. My cats absolutely love it. They’ll start purring very loudly and if I stop they will start rubbing up against my hand like they don’t want me to stop.

As someone who used to foster dogs and saw the results of actual hitting, what Dr. Mike is doing to Bear is perfectly fine and normal.

I've currently got glass in my thumb, been almost 6 years 😅

I was (4 years ago) self operated and removed ALOT, but I couldn't reach below the 'white fatty bit', so I left it. Hurts sometimes, but it's my buddy now.

7:46 the way the guy did a flip like that to stop himself from.l bouncing impressed me with how well it worked, but at the same time made me SO ANXIOUS that he was gonna go down enough with the momentum he had to hit a spring or something, idk. It made me really nervous lol

Stumbled upon your videos a while back.. absolutely great content! I have absolutely zero knowledge about medical issues.. but you have a pleasant way of explaining it in normal human language.
