Security pacts seem to be the current fashion. Meaningless words when the intent is so that it can continue to coerce the countries it forced into the agreement. The next step would be to fleece them and make them pay for its military presence in the countries.

I wish there was a rule that requiring all country's leadership to spend $1 on diplomatic solution finding, and the skilled diplomates & debaters that go along with that, for every $1 dollar they spend waging war. Wars do nothing for populations other than to create poverty & destroy the structure below the fabric of our unspoken social contracts of love of country & state, which binds us all together. War is the failure of diplomacy they say.
