Happened with us once, didn't tell they guy about camera, told them to call police an sat there. At first they pretended to call, later we called the police, told them about the recordings and got 2 of the guys arrested. Always get them arrested! You will save some other drivers on the road.

By allowing this culprit go Scott free he will be emboldened to pull off similar scams on other motorists... The car owner should have called the PCR and lodged a FIR against the culprit.Though some time might have got lost but it would have helped potential motorists from getting scammed....

Once my uncle was caught in a scam like this when he was travelling on a 2 wheeler with his wife and daughter. The scammer faked a crash and called up the whole village. They tied my uncle to a tree and demanded money and jewellery. When the head of village came to observe the situation, he was lucky to know my uncle's father. So he settled it and let him go by paying a small amount of money. Thinking about that incident still sends chills down my spine.

Why did they leave the place?
They should have filed a complaint so that the police would have some proof that he did it deliberately.
A case should be registered.
If the same person does the same thing again, the police will have his past record without reporting the crime and urges them to do so for future evidence.

Request all to install dual channel dashcam for front and rear recording. Sometimes, rear ended vehicle can shout that you abruptly stopped vehicle and caused damage to their car.
