We are pleased to reveal the first muscle of the anatomical model — the Quadriceps Femoris.
The animation depicts the muscle's primary function — an extension of the leg at the knee joint via the patellar ligament — the strongest ligament in our body. Please note the very particular pathway of the muscle fibers for each head of the quadriceps. Another point visualized here is aponeuroses' behavior, which doesn't shorten during muscle contraction but instead maintains its length and serves as the muscle fiber attachment area.
