Just came here to report the most obvious solution worked for me: I merely toggled appearance to "light" and then immediately toggled it back to "dark".

However I'm _now_ experiencing incredible LAG on the YouTube interface (using PC/Firefox) such as I've never known before! Text entry is stop-and-go.

i have this bug too!! i was comenting on some videos and i didn't see the text so i looked carefully and sudenly i noticed it it's a bit darker then the background and it's soo hard for me to type like this soo thanks for noticing the bug!!!

Thank you so much for covering this, Brent, as I've been going around in circles for the last few days in an effort to find the cause of it. I'm just relieved that it's not just me, so I can stop scratching my head now!

HINT: Once you've typed the comment, just use the highlighter to check it's okay before posting. Alternatively, type your comment on your notepad, then copy/paste it to YT.

This happened about 3 days ago for me☹ Works OK with light mode but that burns my eyes at night 😱I thought it was Windows but as I tried other browsers same result. I installed 24H2 didn't fix & PC is running slower 🤬Thanks for this video - put my mind at rest that I hadn't screwed up

Yeah have this issue as well, the only option for me is to turn on Youtube's light theme, then use the Firefox extension Dark Background Light Text.
Update: Just had the weirdest of things happen, decided to use Youtube's dark theme, along with the Dark Background Light Text extension for reasons. Then I decided to turn off the DBLT extension to see what would happen, and to my surprised the font colour has returned to normal. 😊

Yes has been an issue for me for about a week now, you cannot see what your writing until you confirm the comment, so thanks for letting me know its not just my system
