Fred Goldberg - Can Humans Cause Global Warming with CO2-Emissions From the Burning of Fossil Fuels?

Показать описание
The lecture by Dr. Fred Goldberg presents some basic facts concerning CO2 and its properties, discusses the residence time in the atmosphere of human emissions, and why it has no measurable effect on the climate. The lecture also explains the 30% increase of CO2 during the last century, why it is not human-caused, what is causing the climate changes, and what the climate will be in the future.

I never knew 54% of weather stations were at airports... that is just insane.

Good point made at 54:00.
You can deny a conclusion on our input on Climate Change but you can't deny the pollution and other human impacts on our environment. Let's fix all that!

Nice presentation. Though not too sure about those CO2 solubility numbers. When atmospheric CO2 is dissolved into the oceans it is partitioned between CO2(aq), HCO3 and CO32. At equilibrium, CO2(aq) makes up 1%, HCO3 makes up 89% and CO32 makes up about 10% of total CO2. Increasing the temperatire of the oceans by 1C may decrease the solubility of CO2(aq) by 3% but that would not be the same for HCO3 or CO32. These are complex calculations and in reality a 1C increase in mean water-temperature would only increase the CO2 in the atmosphere by at most 20 ppmv. The assumed 120 ppmv CO2 increase however could be explained by a change in ocean biology.

At 7:00, he says that if we extend the line 4, 000 years, we'll have the needed cooling to have us enter the next glacial period of the current Ice Age. But that assumes that the process is linear. The graph shows that climate changes are anything but linear. With the coming solar minimum and the fact that the Holocene is already longer than the average interglacial, we might be due for a sudden end to the Holocene starting as soon as later this afternoon. Or it might happen in 4, 000 years. We still don't know all the factors which affect the end-of-interglacial cycle.

Did a bit more research on my question of how many PPM from human emissions. I found 2 sources:

1) Global Carbon Budget: 2013 show 9.86+0.89 (Fossil, Cement + Land Use) in Gt C. Multiplied by 3.664 for Gt CO2 and divided by 2.13Gt/ppm = 18.5PPM

2) World Bank data show a lot more Gt for Fossil, Cement only at 219 Gt, which gives 103PPM.

Unsure which one is accurate!

I generally agree with this dude, but climate is NOT a chaotic system. Not knowing all of the rules doesn't = chaotic.

What are you talking about? Each and every chart you showed says: The CO2 emission went up over the last 100 years, and the temperature went up over the last 100 years.

there was  time that the polar regions were sub tropical, nothing bad happened to life, lfke did just fine.  dinosaurs were able to live all over the earth because of that. not sure why they keep thinking dinosaurs were warm blooded I never seen a reptile or amphibian with ability to generate their own heat have you? birds are not reptiles, maybe they dont know what dinosaurs were because they only have bones but the size of some dinosaurs if they were warm blooded would be unable to get to such monsterous sizes as they could never generate enough energy by eating plants to get that big and their digestive systems could not do so (basedon a video on youtube on why mammals never got big like dinosaurs). t rex was huge, wasa he a warm blood or cold blood? if he was cold blooded the earth could not be cold otherwise they could not live as far north and south that they did inthe past. so we are actually colder than the earth used to be.

Sourcewatch.org says:
"Fred Goldberg is a climate change skeptic; critics state that "while his educational background is in welding technology, Goldberg has been cited as an authority on polar history and exploration at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden." [1]
Goldberg was a speaker at the International Conference on Climate Change (2009) organized by the Heartland Institute think tank. [2]
Goldberg identified himself as an "associate professor at the Royal School of Technology in Stockholm, " Sweden, as recently as 2006. [3] Goldberg is also listed as a speaker at an Institute forum titled "Global Warming - Scientific Controversies in Climate Variability, " held in September 2006. [4] However, according to an undated profile of Goldberg, he is "not currently employed" by the Institute. [1] Heartland's profile of Goldberg says he "was affiliated with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) from 1969 to 2000, " and in 2006 "was appointed Secretary General for an International Climate Seminar at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm." "
He is one of the discredited nutbars who imagine its all due to the sun (proven not to be), the cosmic rays (proven not to be), and water vapor (proven not to be). He's a CRANK in capitals.

LOL the Heartland is Oil- Industry, I was wondering why this man was talking so much non-sense, also all his Graphs and Numbers are wrong, he did got nothing right in this movie not even the simple facts. A living far off from reality in a fair tale movie.

This guy's crap is totally refuted by mainstream well-established science. He should be ashamed.
