I’m from Dutchess County NY mid Hudson Valley. I’m planning on planting alliums in a container this Fall, first time trying them. Silly question, I will water when first planted do I stop watering when the weather goes below 40 degrees ?

I have planted 20 alliums bulbs in my front garden, 6 are globe master (the giant bulbs) and the rest are small bulbs. All of them bloomed the first year and they are beautiful. But only 7 bloomed with small flower the next year. I wonder what happened to the giant bulbs. I put them 8 to 9 inches under the ground, is it too deep?
When I saw your video, you didn't plant that deep. As I live in Wisconsin, I am afraid the ground freeze up in that long 4 months winter and may kill them, that's why I plant a little deep down. I just purchased 12 Giant GlobeMaster Bulbs and want to get your opinion about how many inches I need to plant them in the ground.

Hello Kelly,
Thanks for the tips. I planted my purple sensation and stargazer bulbs in the Fall, but they haven't seemed to grow yet? I'm in Zone 9. I hope they didn't rot on me. :(

Thanks Kelly, I've just subscribed to your channel today because I need advice on alliums. I love the purple colour and unique shape so I bought some bulbs. However they are hugely different in size, some are the just about bigger than a frozen pea some are the size of Dougball. So my question is do I plant them all the same ? Thanks, Sean (England)
