As a Kannadiga who voted for BJP in the previous state election I can say they failed to deliver.
The only memorable highlights of Bommaiah's tenure were:
- Banning Hijab for school going girls
- Passing laws against 'religious conversions' and 'love Jihad'
- Beef Ban
- Inaugurating Sadguru's Isha foundation
- Inaugurating Bangalore Mysore 10 lane highway.
- Making Kashmir files movie tax free
- Revising chapters in school history text books
- flaming Ligayat and Gowda caste politics

Every government that comes into power allocates state budget for the development of infrastructure, so its not note worthy and nothing gets completed on time so I'll discount that.
Unemployment, rise in crime, anti-corruption, increase in BPL demographic, land encroachment, farmer crisis, price rise on all commodities, fuel hike etc took a back seat.

Hindi, and even Sanskrit, is brutally being thrusted on non-hindi speaking Indians by Modi, the BJP and the Hindi speaking BJP and RSS ruled states. It is based on the bullshit theory that India should be united on the basis of a speaking a single language and Sanskrit represents Indian culture. There is nothing wrong with Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali and Punjabi. They have been spoken for centuries. What is the result ? Hindu extremists write revisionist textbooks distorting history. They force teachers to teach from, and kids to read from, hindi textbooks that they don't even understand and speak. Kids from Tamil Nadu, say, move to Delhi and they can't read or write a word in Tamil! They can't speak or write much Hindi either and have to learn from scratch.
English is ubiquitous whether Indians like it or not, however. It is the most widely used language in science, technology and the world media. To get good jobs in a global economy, Indians need to learn English and there is no choice.There is no conflict. All Indian kids can learn a second Indian language in school that they are most comfortable with speaking at home.

Even in Karnataka, hindu religious conservatives and nativists are extremely repressive in their practices.The repression, apathy and hypercritical attitudes of the religious establishment, rooted in religious conservatism and rigidity, surely ruins lots of young people and their hopes for a bright future, even today. Women in particular suffer heavily at the hands of the religious patriarchy. The congress party used to be the bastion of liberalism and democracy(by which we mean every human being developing to his or her full potential and pursuing intellectual dreams and a higher purpose in life, and fighting religious repression, despotism, insularity, misogyny, divisiveness and dictators like modi), progressiveness, and social mobility. To break the shackles, Karnataka needs to root out and destroy Modi and the BJP altogether. Secularism is a simple idea and based on practicality.India also has hundreds of millions of non-hindus. Unless per capita income and quality of life for those rises to the average, India can never fully achieve it's national and global potential.
