This may seem like a joke but to some extent it’s true when it comes to hydration in general. The water is absorbed better by cells in the body due to the osmosis and diffusion of water with sodium. These sodium and water levels fluctuate with eachother in order to control the balance and maintain proper hydration and electrolyte levels. That’s why most sports drinks have high levels of sodium, sodium is more important than you think ;)
