When the power companies shuts off power to consumers in california, the power companies are still charging customers even though the power has been shut off. And when power is shut off, it could be as long as a few hours to weeks.

If I (engineer who is educated in Information Technology, Computer Science, and Physics) campaign for election as Power Authority, will anyone vote for me? There should be no outages! Reclaim your infrastructure, before it's too late!

Power outages are not an issue. The smoke and fires caused my family to have to separate and move from the Chico area, two family members canceled plans to attend Chico State, and now attend classes in Redding, and one family successfully moved from .Chico to Crescent City for better housing and less job comprtition. The remaining family members attend Butte College and have jobs in Chico. The changes are sad and we miss each other, however our horizons are expanding. Sickening smoke and traumatic fires, lack of housing and insurance costs are the issue.

If only I could afford to, I'd be gone in a nano second. I hate the summer heat in NorCal, the economy and the fires are horrendous. The power outages are just another nail in the California coffin. If only had bought that little bungalow in Costa Rica before the recession financially ruined me in my 50's. Oh well...make the best of it, that's all you can do if you can't move.

I hope many short-sighters do leave as the governor of CA will never allow the power shutoffs to continue as we experienced in q4 2019. He knows this will undue his career therefore, CA will do what is required to make future shutoff events rare and very targeted going forward. Every time there is a major earthquake people vow to do the same and in a few months people go back to business as usual in CA.

These power shutoffs are more of a experiment to test customers willingness to pay higher utility rates where the increases will be 'targeted' to upgrading the grid over the next 10-15 years.

No I'm staying this is home to me now, I lived here for almost 37 year's I have family here and I'm not going to abandon them. What ever happens happens. Not much I can do about it. I look at it this way there is problems no matter where you decide to live.
