130 grams of carbohydrates is more than most people will need in any given day, unless they are very physically active. You need protein and you need some natural fat. You can make glucose from the protein intake, in the liver, and that also allows for easier glucose management and less dependence on unpredictable rapid insulin. Glucose can come from lower carb plants such as non-starchy vegetables. There's no need for people to eat 130 g of carbs when the body can produce it's own glucose needs through protein and lower carb plants. You are giving false information. Your RDA may be doing a lot of diabetics a disservice, with unnecessarily high and erratic glucose. Please give your patients a wider choice and stop the misinformation that 130g of glucose is some kind of minimum need for life and health. It is false.

If eating protein and fat makes management easier, why not just tell people to skip most of the carbs and eat more of the protein and fat?

Government suggestions on what "everyone should eat" is what has mostly caused an epidemic of insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes.
