Hoping the devs read this: Serpent in the Staglands had a killer atmosphere, and I really enjoyed the plot, but yeah, it was undercooked, to say the least. I haven’t played Mechajammer, so I can't speak to that one, but I’ve seen the mixed reviews. Still, I’ve always appreciated your creativity and writing. Even though there’s a chance history might repeat itself, I didn’t hesitate to pick up Banquet for Fools in early access. Consider this comment more of a gentle nudge than a harsh critique—I know game development is no easy feat. If you have the resources, maybe think about hiring more peole. I’m rooting for you because I truly believe you’ve got what it takes to create a great game. Maybe this time, third time’s a charm!

I love the stop-motion art style!

Serpent of the Staglands also has a great art style and I like the world too. It reminds me a little of the Castlevania symphony of the night.
BUT the graphics in terms of resolution and the size of the world and the depth of the story were a bit disappointing.

The devs are super receptive to hearing feedback and making changes on the steam page community discussion tab. Feedback only helps these early access games improve so consider trying it out and passing feedback along to them

Looks lovely. Creatures remind me a lot of The Dark Crystal.

That's the first time i've seen that attack bubble since Vagrant Story

Picked this up yesterday as a birthday present to myself! I love RPGs that really break the mould when it comes to 'fantasy' and aren't just playing around in Tolkien's backyard.

I didn't know it was a game in the universe of serpent's in the Stagland. I'm in.

Combat is similar to an old PlayStation game I loved, called Vagrant Story.

I'm a sucker for Hannah and Joseph's games. What they lack in polish, they make up for in spades with charm. They always have some really fun, creative flourishes and distinctive art-style, and in spite of the name-change, this is a Whalenought-ass game through and through. That said, they've also been really attentive over on Steam listening to player feedback and responding to bug reports, and have already deployed at least 13 patches to iron out issues, and in its current state, it's easily the least janky thing they've ever put out.

Oh. No wonder they dropped the previous studio, with how both Serpent in the Staglands and Mechajammer were received. I only played a little of both, but from what I surmised looking at reviews and discussions, they have good ideas, execute them poorly, and then don't really work on improving those or, when they do, it's still not enough. They also said they'd add controller support to Mechajammer, the one thing I've been waiting for in order to get it, and all that's happened on that front was the announcement that they'd do it.

If you don't know of Serpent in the Staglands and Mechajammer, be ware that this game might just meet the same fate. Look into those games to have an idea for what awaits you with this one.

Thanks for the video. It does look nice. I think that's part of what AA or indie have going: they don't have to go for the McDonald's mass appeal approach, and create something unique. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.

People gave Serpent in the Staglands so much shit, but I really enjyoed it. All the more impressive that it came from I think just two people at the time, a married couple. Never understood all the hate, it wasn't perfect but I think people expected it to be another Baldur's Gate or something. It had a very interesting world, visual style, and the gameplay was fun and challenging.

Will definitely be checking this out in the near future! You should take a look at Serpent in the Staglands if you ever get around to it

I appreciate the Morrowind vibe that the game has. Will follow it.

The combat system seems iffy to me but man that art style is distinct the best way.

Any particular reason you haven't covered Serpent in the Staglands? Seems like it would be right up your alley

I barely ever buy EA games but the unique, almost retro, dark psychedelic art direction hooked me. I bought in at the beginning of the month and I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

This game looks amazing! This is the epitome of why indie developers are superior to AAA titles in modern pc gaming.

This is something I almost certainly would have passed over on my own, were it not for your video. Now I've gone ahead and wishlisted it! This art style is incredibly charming, the world they're building is unique and interesting, and the gameplay seems different from the norm. I'm particularly drawn by the way they've designed the UI for dialogue, I haven't quite seen it done that way before.

everything you are showing me I am loving. The combat seems like something I haven't played with but doesn't look bad
