I have an iMac and use the thunderbolt 3 computer labeled port to connect to it. Is that OK with the power it generates? I like it due to the faster sd reader and audio interface.

I have a Macbook pro M1. I travel a lot and may not have access to a power outlet at all times. Can I use the TS3 plus without connecting the power supply? Thanks!

MacBook 2015 no thunderbolt 3. For anyone out there that has the same Mac as me with no thunderbolt 3 port, I bought the thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 backwards adapter from apple and used a regular thunderbolt 2 cable again from apple to connect to my Mac and it seems to be all working fine. I’m also using the computer port on the ts3 and haven’t came across any issues. It won’t charge my Mac anyway with thunderbolt 2 but if anyone can clarify of it will cause any problems and whether or not I should not use the computer port? Thanks

I apologize in advance if this has already been answered. However, I am using my 2020 iMac 27” 5K (the “iMac”) as my desktop computer and my Apple 2016 MacBook Pro 15” laptop (the “MacBook”) for my remote work. I think I already know the answer to this, but I want to use CalDigit’s TS3 Plus’s rear Thunderbolt 3 (Computer / Host / Up to 87-Watt charging) port for my MacBook and the other rear Thunderbolt 3 (Downstream) port for my iMac. In terms of energy drawn; I believe my iMac is smart enough to default to the plugged-in AC-powered wall outlet rather than use the Thunderbolt 3, which provides up to 15 Watts.

My last question is about the bidirectional communication between my iMac and MacBook via CalDigit’s TS3 Plus to my other accessories (iPhone, Canon printer, Apple Watch, AirPods - 2nd Generation, etc.). I should be able to see all my accessories via my Apple desktop screen?

Thanks for the help,
Darren

I have a 2020 m1 MacBook Pro and a ts3+. I read a lot of reports about m1 MacBook potentially killed by power delivery docks, and should be sticking with the Apple charger supplied with the MacBook. How should I be setting up the ts3+ to avoid the m1 MacBook getting power delivered from the dock when plugged in? Thanks!

Would it be bad practice to plug in the charging port on the TS3 to your Mac when you already have the Mac charger plugged in? Could the excessive charge damage your computer? Love your products can’t wait for the TB4 version of this!
