Embracing The Shadow Self | Deepali Salil, Tanvi Palav & Sayani Chakraborty | TEDxEMWS

Consciousness, depicted as the spotlight of self, illuminates who we think we are. Yet, beneath it lurks the shadow, repressed aspects holding our disowned emotions and desires. Shadow integration, bringing these hidden parts to light, fosters wholeness. By embracing, not rejecting, our shadow, we gain a truer sense of self. Tanvi Palav represents the human being/body that holds the consciouness, represented by Deepali Salil and the shadow self, represented by Sayani Charkraborty.

Special Thanks to Keerthana Krish and Sumeet Patil. Deepali Salil is a professional Bharatanatyam dancer with a Master's degree in Performing Arts (Bharatanatyam). She is also a certified Dance Movement Therapy Practitioner and a UNESCO CID PARIS certified therapeutic movement facilitator. In addition to her performance career, Deepali has served as a core facilitator at a summer camp conducted by the University of Oxford. Her dance films, LOOKING WITHIN AND LOOKING AROUND and FLY.. FLY AGAIN, have been presented internationally in New York, Chicago, Canada, Korea, and throughout India. She served as the lead Bharatanatyam choreographer and trainer for the lead actress in the Bollywood feature film MEE RAQSAM, co-created by Shabana Azmi and her brother Baba Azmi.

Tanvi Palav is a Nrityalankar Degree holder with Distinction for Masters in Performing Arts.She is a Bal-Shree awardee, a Presidential Award.
She has won 4 prestigious awards in Kathak Dance conducted by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidhyalaya,Kalajeev Puraskar at Visakhapatnam ,UTTUNG Puraskar in Mumbai, Nrityamani award at Cuttack Mahotsav in Odisha.
She is an ICCR Empanelled Kathak Dancer and A’ Grade Artist at Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan). Internationally, she has received the Indonesian Government Arts & Culture Scholarship (IACS) 2016.She has featured as a Lead actress for the Marathi serial Javai Vikat Ghene Aahe on ZEE Marathi & has appeared in many ad films. She is currently acting in a Marathi play Vacuum Cleaner with the legendary actor Ashok Saraf.
