Synthstrom Deluge | Exploring My Favorite New Features in the Latest Community Firmware

Today, I’m diving into my beloved Deluge and some of the amazing features added by the Open Source community. These updates are a mix of new and ongoing projects from the latest nightly firmware. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend giving nightly a shot – it’s packed with exciting new features being added constantly. Plus, sharing feedback on crashes is super helpful so the dev team can fine-tune things.

The open-source firmware has seriously taken the Deluge to new heights – I honestly can’t imagine using it without all these incredible updates.

Also, there’s a Community Preset Competition happening right now! You can submit patches created with the 1.2 Community Firmware. It’s a great opportunity to showcase your sound design skills and leave your mark on the Deluge community. There are prizes for the top submissions, provided by Synthstrom, and the deadline is February 28th, 2025! Link below!

Correction: The Arpeggiator randomizer for octave is actually the octave probability, not how many octaves the arp will walk.

DX7 engine I didn’t know it could work alongside other oscillators and go through filters, that and the audio track I out from another track are absolutely crazy useful features.

I actually had no idea about a lot of these features, thanks for going over them! The horizontal menus look really good. Warble LFO shape is something I've wished existed many times.

Being able to stagger the chord keys, I guess a staggerable chord arp, would be awesome. I am not explaining it well, but to be able to play chords like a piano player would. Not all at the same time. Anyways, great vid! Succinct and I learned a lot! Thanks for the dev too

Fantastic video!! First time stumbling across your channel, and instant subscriber! I love those new menu views, and FM engine. I would LOVE to see more tutorials from you, especially diving into MPE programming! I have an osmose, and I want to get the most out of the deluge synth engine by programming the MPE capabilities. Also looking to understand more about midi implementation with other gear, particularly sending program change messages when starting a new song to external gear!

Good vid, it's a good presentation/explanation of new features, I find the written stuff on github a bit dry and hard to follow.
That particular chord mode has changed how I do things massively, I'm similar in that I'll mess about with that for a while and record something then build around it. I'll often start with just a raw oscillator then build a patch around around it, then add drums etc. Used to always be drums first.
I've not checked out the nightly builds since 1.2, I didn't realise how much extra stuff has been added, it's really impressive. The new stutter modes look great, I used to find that feature pretty unusable until sync and performance mode.

I love the new FM implementation. Needed usability improvements from the version I tested, I don't know if they did that yet. a 6 OP FM + subtractive filters are real useful.
