How to set an indoor Mechanical Timer

You have it set for 6:30 to 10:30 not 6:00 to 10:00. If you look closely you'll see that the tab between 6 and 6:30 is up and the the one between 10 and 10:30 is down.

My timer has a little up/down slider on the front. At the top of it it says "On" and at the bottom it says "Timer." I assume this means that once i've set it I should move that lever to "Timer." Please confirm for me, will you? And the lamp switch must be turned on, even during the hours that timer says should be off, right ?
