I think another phrase that is also should be said "being proactive".

I been JM for 2 years now and one thing I always drill into apprentices is "BE PROACTIVE". Getting to a job site and you know what were doing there? Great. Get the material ready, get the tools ready, get the required, ladders, harness etc.

If I'm doing a task and your done then look what I'm doing and if I need something soon then go grab it. Being proactive shows your understanding and are willing to work.

Ive been doing this for years.
And the reality is, youve got to take some shit before you run some shit.
Dont be so sensitive.
You should wake up and be excited for the daily challenges that are presented to you.
Appreciate the opportunity the company gave you, Apprentices usually do more harm than good. So be grateful, learn, respect and grow.

4th year Apprentice here, taking my journeyman's next year. I agree with what your saying and I did that for years as an apprentice but I eventually learned that nobody cares and I never got the recognition or reward for that. It's very unfortunate but I'm tired of trying because no matter how good of a working I am nobody wants to pay. And I will add to this as well, for the employer it's beneficial but to the employee it's not.
