As an apprentice you'll love a broom.
As a full blown electrician you'll never touch a broom again

Man, your college story sounds exactly like mine. I was there for a year and made some terrible life decisions, tanked my grades, and decided to leave. Instead of going into the trades I jumped into the military and spent the next 7 years becoming Journeymen level at my MOS. Now I'm getting out in less than a year and looking at getting into the trades, your videos are super helpful in my search. Stay safe brother

Went on to NYS DOL website and waited till they were recruiting. Waited in line with thousands of guys, Brought paperwork, took an aptitude test, oral interview in front of the board, and was selected 1 of 50. Local 25 IBEW apprentice going into my third year, well worth it. Experience going in helped me.

Hey man, thanks for this video. I'm 26 and currently lost in life which has caused some severe anxiety the last few months. College didn't work out and neither did the military (did my enlistment and got out) and I'm looking at electric. Admittedly, the trades are a whole new world to me and like you said in your video, it is something I'm also not sure if I'm cut out for or will enjoy and I have been trying to avoid them, but I also know I won't truly know unless I try and I'm running out of options. I'm sick of my dead end office job and want to make something of myself. I'm just so nervous man

Just turned 29 and I went to school for E&I and the jobs are just not happening got laid off when Covid hit in 2020. Hard to find work since then because of "not enough experience". I’m applying for apprenticeship jobs now and getting a gym membership to lose some weight as well. Cheers to all!

I think going through a apprenticeship right now is the correct move. Electricians are needed everywhere and sadly i feel and its only my opinion it's starting to become a dying industry cause people dont wanna mess with electricial work.

About the trade school… I start my electrical apprenticeship in a couple weeks and they’re actually making me take the class at our local trade school. They’ll pay for the 4 year class too so I’m not complaining haha. Many trade companies here in Utah will pay and make you go through the class at this local trade school

Just started my 30th year in the IBEW, I got in the apprenticeship back in 1993. I’ve been lucky, only been laid off for total of 3-4 weeks and worked within 30 miles of my house. Through the union the contractors have no say, have to apply through the NJATC of that particular local. Difference between non union and union is one has pensions and good wage

Awesome video for a young man. My son just graduated from highschool and he's beginning a helper program in July with IBEW 134 preparing him for a career with 134. He excited and ready to jump in. Keep up the great videos. Congrats to you!
