Lock In 7% With Government Bonds:

Semiconductor companies are some of the most important companies in the world given that basically everything we use nowadays relies on chips whether that be simple microwaves or fancy cars. This has given chip designers and manufacturers like Nvidia and TSMC significant political and economic power. However, one chip company that people don’t really know about but is super important is ASML. ASML doesn’t actually produce or design chips, but they produce the equipment that produces chips. So, they’re basically the supplier of the supplier of the supplier. Despite their relative anonymity, considering the role they fulfill, there’s no question that ASML is extremely important and they are valued accordingly at nearly $300 billion. This video explains the story of ASML and how they because the most important company that you’ve never heard of.

I work for a contract electronics manufacturing company in the Netherlands, now part of the VDL group. We have ASML as a customer for over 15 years. They call us not a supplier, but a co-maker. And that's what we do. They bring out the best in us. I'm proud to work for them.

I've always known about ASML since i grew up in the veldhoven region and basically ASML is everywhere here, now that i work there i'm starting to understand more and more how good their position is in this market.

ASML actually has poked fun at their own obscurity. The BBC did a report on ASML once where they called it 'a relatively obscure Dutch company', so they now have hoodies saying that.

The video misses some really important things. Unless I missed this in the video somewhere - ASML is the the ONLY maker of EUV machines in the world. The video also doesn't speak about the super interesting investors that made it all happen: Intel, Samsung and TSMC. The three largest chip producers in the world. While Intel has pulled out (they didn't agree with the path ASML was taking - they were wrong and got stuck at 14 and 10nm forever) the other two are still major shareholders. Their technology is so unique and valuable, that the US is actively banning ASML from selling their most advanced machines to chinese companies. Without EUV, we currently cannot make your iphone or laptop, PlayStation, or many other things that require high-tech devices. There is still nothing on the horizon to replace this technology.

I've never heard of ASML, then again most people havent heard of TSMC. I guessed (wrongly) that TSMC must have made the machines but its an entirely separate company apparently. its also super interesting that philips was one of their founders where people dont think they do anything at all even they play a pretty huge role in medical equipment. Also interesting to learn that Nikon also has stuff in the same space because i thought they only made cameras and lenses for those cameras. Thanks for the video :)

I studied Electrical Engineering at a Dutch Technical University. We had the cheapest beer of all study-association operated bars because of the bags of money ASML threw at us. Also cool trips, free unlimited paper notebooks, etc.

So, yeah, I've heard of ASML

ASML is an excellent company and it is my greatest position along with BABA and SOXX. In the semiconductor sector, it is a well-known company and on which the others depend, to a large extent. Thanks for the video!

Interesting video!
I work for a company in Belgium, IGW, and we deliver parts to ASML for their DUV and EUV machine.
The last couple of years ASML has seen an huge growth and I believe it will become even bigger in the future!

Two relatively small companies: Philips.... it was one of the largest electronics firms in the world back then.

You should dive into the Eindhoven Brainport as a whole . ASML NXP VDL and off course Phillips, and all those companys attached to this immersive unstoppable giant tumblemachine of tech and innovation....TU/e, International Business School and the Design Academy pumping out their ideas and talents and get very well funded. It operates like one big family, and its fun to watch. IMEC is a TU/Leuven based company where ASML does most of their tryouts in innovative design, and in their entourage many more smaller companys alike . Its one to watch to see whats laying ahead of us in the future ! Take care & Stay safe !

Philips a small company? They came up with the compact cassette, compact disk, laser disk, video cassette recorder and a lot more. They where pretty important in the 70’s and 80’s. Google for NAT lab and you understand.

Back in the day between 2006 and 2014 when they where building their factory in Veldhoven, Netherlands, I used to drive past regularly in my truck. Building the white interior cleanrooms from inside out, was amazing to see.

Who is the biggest client of ASML?
1. TSMC (They're spending billions to get as many EUVs as they can from ASML because of their limited production)
2. SAMSUNG (Only quarter or third compared to TSMC)

Recently, Intel was the first company to acquire the latest model from ASML regardless of the top 2 main clients.
That means US is really pumping up its semiconductor business.
